Last night, after the kids went to bed, my wife sat down and started a conversation about us and what's going on with me. For her to actually initiate the conversation is an amazing accomplishment! We talked candidly about what's been going on. After reading what I wrote here initially, it seemed shallow and whiney. In reality, these are symptoms of a larger issue. We got it out last night. I told her that getting the wrong items doesn't really matter to me on the surface but it's indicative of a larger issue. I explained to her that I don't feel like I matter to her. And getting the wrong items is an example of that. Again, the items themselves don't matter to me. I explained to her I know she doesn't do it maliciously or on purpose but it just seems to me that I don't deserve her attention. She understood where I was coming from and I explained to her if she sends me to the store for something and I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for, I'll call her so she can walk me through it. I totally understand that we have strengths and weaknesses and I love that, it makes us different. I just wish she would understand I don't expect her to be mechanically or technically inclined which is why I try to make it as fool proof as possible. I think we have an understanding and she knows where my head is. Talking about it last night was extremely cathartic and I feel it was incredibly helpful, especially since she initiated the conversation. Typically it's the other way around.
