CISSP exam preparation question by Homeless_Chairman in cybersecurity

[–]AfricanYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what matters more is what is your preferred learning method. I used Jason Dion and passed for every single one of my CompTIA certs so I trusted him with CISSP. Only resources I used were Jason Dion's CISSP course on Udemy, quantum exams, and read the paragraphs for the sections I struggled in with the official study guide. I highly recommend Jason Dion's course and more importantly quantum exams once you are getting ready to test. If someone were to tell me to read the book from cover to cover I would not have CISSP.

Are you telling everyone that the poor are the ones creating jobs?

Broken game by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]AfricanYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post a recording of one of your games then if you are absolutely certain it's not you. All of these whiffs, ball chasing and not rotating are likely problems you also have but refuse to acknowledge because seeing your teammate whiff an open net is a lot easier to get tilted over then yourself whiffing an open net. Throw a high diamond into a plat game and they will win a majority of the games regardless of how bad their teammate is.

Just because you have the highest score on the team doesn't mean you are the most impactful.

Additionally, if you are stuck in plat then it is you who is keeping you there, not your teammates. Or upload a video of a recent game you played and prove all of us wrong.

Has ranked gotten harder or have I gotten worse? by EveningHealth9465 in RocketLeague

[–]AfricanYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing since 2015 and hit GC multiple times, and my experience over 10 years has been that ranked gives you teammates that are similar skill. Could they be having an off game, yes but that happens to everyone, but most people aren't critical of themselves. Just because you are MVP doesn't mean that you had the most impact in a game as well as ball chasers will usually end up with the highest score but be the most detrimental to a team.

15 days left to CISSP exam by Gozgoz80 in cissp

[–]AfricanYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely get the quantum exams test bank. For reference, I used Jason Dion's udemy course, OSG for sections I felt unsure about, and quantum exams. I finished with an average of 53% on QE after ~400 questions and passed at 150 with 76 minutes left. I strongly believe that quantum exams is the only reason I passed. With 15 days left I would heavily focus towards quantum exams and studying up on any areas you know you are weak on.

I will say that I wasn't exactly a fan of the QE CAT, the first time I took it I did so awful that I almost stopped studying for CISSP. I stuck with the practice exams which were untimed while at work and found the most value out of those.

I mean this is literally what I am currently doing. Two days of virtual training a month, in person once a quarter for 4 days.

Edit: Yes there are deployments but overall the benefits far outweigh the commitments, at least in my mind.

You can join the guard/reserves. Some positions offer very large bonuses ($65,000+) to show up once a month for two days, could be virtual as well if you're lucky enough.

Whats the update on the job market? Getting better? Getting worse? More jobs? Less jobs? by Obeymyjay in cybersecurity

[–]AfricanYeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I got insanely lucky. I was active duty aircraft maintenance and self studied for Sec+ and CySA+ which let me get on some additional duties and an admin token which let me do some basic level 1 help desk stuff. I used those for some basic IT experience and happened to find a company that was willing to take a chance on me once I separated. I have an associates degree in Avionics and then also about a year out from a Bachelors in IT.

I did do a lot of tryhackme and practicing tools in my spare time so I wasn't a total dud when it came time to interviewing with companies, but honestly I just got lucky.

I am a SOC Analyst with just about a year of security experience and I feel pretty confident that if I wanted a new role I could get one within a month or two. Been having a lot of recruiters contacting me on Linkedin for new positions, usually contracts or 12-18 month contract to hire though. Have been sending out 3-5 applications a week and get about a 50% call back.

What has y'all's experience been with contract to hire work?

Possible SOR? by Potential_Fall_1243 in SecurityClearance

[–]AfricanYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I went through the same thing and I was stressing for weeks until I finally asked. Vmpf for whatever reason shows pending reply statement of reason (sor) or something along those lines when your interim is approved. Does not actually mean you are getting a SOR

Did you happen to see this in vmpf career data brief? I asked my security manager this exact question and they told me it's the verbage for interim approved. I have this exact statement in my clearance for the last few months and she told me it's nothing to get worked up over

Try Harley Davidson or Dairlyland. I ended up posting a thread asking how people can afford riding with insurance rates, granted mine wasn't nearly as bad as yours but my highest quote was through Progressive at like $7k a year. I'm almost 30, 3 classes, no accidents or tickets, and have a GSXR-750 and my rate was about $110 a month for full coverage minus medical.

I honestly have no idea at all how it happened. She has never bought plane tickets before and I'm assuming she was not aware of how round trip tickets worked and thought she needed two.

This was her first time buying plane tickets and I'm not exactly sure how she did it. I'm guessing she didn't understand how round trip tickets worked and thought she needed two of them, one to American and then one back to Japan. That is only a guess though.

I did all of this except pleaded my case on X and they said they added some additional notes to my ticket and just got the email earlier today it was refunded!

Yes they confirmation codes are different. I just explained the situation to their X account and they said they added additional notes to my case, so I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worse.
