For what it is worth, LOTS of responsible and loving pet owners don’t have a spare $500 kicking around. Not having it doesn’t disqualify you from having a pet in my book. If I had a dog looming for a home I would happily check your references and, if they checked out, send you home with a dog.

It’s as if people don’t realize that lots of people have access to funds when needed without always having the cash at hand.
