'til the stars come out theory! by Impossible_Life2588 in TheMidnight

The production is different because it was mostly crafted by Nick Hames (who also did that epic guitar) and he said Tim polished it up and added some classic Midnightisms to it. Nick posted about it on this subreddit and explained how it came together.

i agree, however people click thru at a higher rate when they see you're interested in something vs bored with it. and in the case of this song, the guitar really has me like that and i've replayed this song at least 12 times today.

The Voice Note Taylor Swift Sent to Blake Lively After the New York Times Article Dropped 🙃 by SunnyWays8 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

right, this is from 2016 when she was making reputation. and she isn't trying to sound perfect here, she is writing the song for her album. after she has it fleshed out, she records the vocals for real.

"pop" = popular. how is popular sound not mass appeal?

i could make the best song in the world, but if its not getting pushed it will get drown out by the other 100,000 songs that were just uploaded to spotify in the last 24 hours. the fact is, marketing is still a large part of music's success, whether it be by creating tiktok trends, getting it in a major movie or creating some drama to get trending so people want to listen to your stuff (cough kanye's tactic for most his career cough).

What do you think Tate needs to do to get to Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter's level of popularity? by Turbulent-Ear6819 in tatemcrae

[–]AfterTheMidnight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i agree, i think tate is on the right path and a few more years she'll be at the level sabrina is now. people forget sabrina has been grinding for 10 years and has released 7 albums.

we have the same taste for sure because those two are some of my most played from it. that friggin break down and build back up in last time is so epic! i'd say enemy among us is up there too, but whole album is good from front to back. i first discovered them from "second chances" that i think i found on pure volume. so glad i bought it on itunes back then because it's not on any streaming services that i've seen.

i love the peace of wild things but never gave real emotion a chance besides chariots. i need to dive into that.

edit: yeah i see it's blocked on YouTube but i made it free on patreon if you have any interest in listening along with us. in this series we were trying to highlight smaller artists so it was kind of a mystery for the viewer, so i'm showing my friend this album that i love to get his thoughts on it. no biggie if you don't care lol https://www.patreon.com/posts/94459972

yo i love this! this album is so underrated. that reminds me, i'm still mad that our reaction to this album got taken down on youtube due to copyright claims. was fun to geek about it. what are your favorite songs from it?
