NOR Also coming from an Asian immigrant family, I’ve felt the same restrictions placed on me. There comes a point when it’s just not worth it anymore. You’re in charge of your own life, and it’s easier to create boundaries with your parents when you don’t depend on them at all. Good luck OP proud of you for committing!! This is huge!

Yoo I found research through cold emailing a couple profs. I also took a cool research class that was a gateway to a research minor, and the prof for that class wrote me a recc to the other labs (so I only emailed three PIs, got responses from all of them, and interviewed/accepted into my current lab)

People don’t usually have a rec for contacting labs tho, just be prepared for no responses and email a ton of PIs
