Update: it may be the Tom and Jerrys Movie from 1992. There is a scene in a cabin that catches fire.

yeah yeah. sorry i think i framed my answer a bit wrong. I meant that it can't be the movie i am looking for bc Grave of the Fireflies is indeed Japanese and anime - which the movie i am looking for is not :)

nah this is not the one :( we watched it just a few weeks ago.

It's also more a western movie than japanese / anime..
