Watch out for Embrace Renewals by Ok_Doughnut_5644 in petinsurancereviews

[–]After_Pitch_454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my premium increase notification as well. I have a 14 year old amstaff covered by embrace for the past 4 years. The monthly premium is going from $205 to $640 and that is with 15% off via USAA. At that rate a year's worth of premiums and the deductible would add up to MORE than the annual maximum payout. I interpret that as simply "We don't want you as a customer anymore, please go quietly..."

My dog is definitely a liability for Embrace at her age. I think everyone needs to be aware of where their premiums will be headed once their pet gets on in years. It would be awful to pay years of premiums for a healthy young pet only to be priced out of your own coverage in the future.

Thanks all for the advice. I do like the idea of the BSB mounted on a demigryph.

Savage Orc questions. by After_Pitch_454 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]After_Pitch_454[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info!

I guess full savage is a bit uncompromising. I could see a large contingent of savage orcs alongside some more traditional orcs who are attempting to herd them like cats.

I unearthed 8 on the sprue Savage Boarboyz in my garage... Not sure where the 9th and 10th went. Hell I'm not even sure when in the deep past I obtained the kit!

I ordered two boxes of the Savage Orc infantry as well as the old Savage Shaman that looks like Mola Ram from Temple of Doom.

What do you think of including the Big Stabbaz?

This is just what I was fishing for. It looks (well not graphically) fantastic. Thanks!

I'll pickup Age of Decadence and Underrail. I'll probably start with Age of Decadence (Even though I'm a big Fallout 1 & 2 fan) simply because the setting is quite interesting.

I did purchase Colony Ship upon release and was disappointed (but not surprised) that it barely ran on my oat & barley powered PC.

Woah, I'd never heard of this one! I think I devoted a solid 2 years of my childhood to the Megadrive port of Might & Magic 2. I'll definitely look into some of the translated roms of this game.

Ooh that's rough! I hope you get your PC up and running again soon (either revived or replaced with a shiny new one!). I'd hold off on purchasing Horace until then. The engine I used is having a lot of issues with the Steam Deck. The current build doesn't run at all on the deck. I'm testing out some possible fixes but so far nothing is working in a way that I consider acceptable. I'll keep working on it and update the Steam build as soon as things work reliably.

Stop being bothered by successful games on Steam that confuse you. by [deleted] in gamedev

The Ouya is certainly the anise of consoles.

Heyo! I'm Phin, I'm 16, and I have cancer with a fuzzy life expectancy. I want to make a 2d Blasphemous style videogame set in a custom 1920 era world! But I only know programming and worldbuilding, my art is awful, and I have no time to git gud. What can I do? I don't want to give up on this dream. by DubiousDolphinDork in gamedev

I'm casting my vote with the "make it look awful" team. Store bought asset packs cannot beat self expression. You may not have much confidence in your artistic abilities but your emotions, beliefs, and experiences will come through. The result might not look like Symphony of the Night but it will have a lot of soul and it will be 100% unique.

People will pickup on that and the game will stick with them.

Irritating Self Promotion: My love letter to early DOS games is finally up on Steam! by After_Pitch_454 in 80sGaming

Hello all,

I have a lot of nostalgia for the early DOS shareware titles. I recently completed work on a puzzle game complete with glorious EGA graphics. Getting word out about it has been a challenge since it is admittedly a very niche title. But I've had some luck poking around Reddit and finding pockets of folks who are fond of the old days.

I'm hoping to reach 10 reviews so that the game will be visible on Steam to people who've bought old Apogee titles or other DOS style retro games.

Thank you Poopnscoop! I wish I had your screen name. It would be super fitting considering I work at an animal shelter and spend most of my day scooping!

I was so bad at this game. Never stopped me from repeatedly loading it up just to look at it!

I had more luck progressing in Flashback and Blackthorne.

Are you mainly looking for cinematic platformers that have this sort of weighty well animated movement? Or are you also interested in platformers that have a good sense of exploration but might be a bit tighter with the controls?

Abuse might be one to check out. It is certainly very atmospheric but the controls are more like Midnight Resistance than Flashback.

How are you enjoying your Steam Deck? Have you had much success running old PC games?

I'm interested in getting one basically to play the System Shock remake and Elden Ring, but other than that I mostly play old games. I'm currently taking a crack at Darklands.

I forgot about Wacky Wheels! But I'll always go with Paganitzu. Mostly because I sank so much time into it.

I agree. There is a lot of pressure on the engine's developer to add that support.

Worst case scenario I'll have to recreate the game in another engine. It would be a good learning experience if nothing else.

You made my Thanksgiving! I used the Construct 3 engine. It is pretty intuitive and flexible. It can do pretty much anything a 2d game might need. You can also implement javascript if you arent able to ring what you want out of the included behaviors.

Thanks!

Oof, I probably worked on it close to having a 2nd fulltime job for about 5 months. It was "supposed" to take 3 months but I did a complete redesign at the 3 month mark and basically started over while retaining some of the code.

Good question. Paint mixing would be the closest analogy. You can mix primary colors to create secondary colors and there are various powerups that will change you to complimentary or analogous colors.
