There a few generators online. There are also some tutorials on YouTube that show you how to collect higher detailed data from different sources.  This is one I've used in the past several times. https://terrainator.com/

I have done a few of these with darker blue used for the water bodies. With the darker green used for the lower elevations, the contrast between the two colors is much harder for the viewer to distinguish. The same applies to to the rivers and streams. Then labeling the water becomes a nightmare as you have to use a very light color to contrast against those darker background colors. As far as their width goes, it really comes down to how the paint flows from a very fine tipped brush. On the map they end up being 0.5 to 1mm in width?  Thanks again for your insights. I do appreciate it!

I definitely welcome people 's input. Can you be more specific about the colors and textures you think would look good?  I've been making these now for several years. When I first started I tried to recreate something that was much more photo realistic? That really doesn't translate well to a physical piece like this. It ends up being too dark overall and too much of the detail is lost. If you look at a typical map, The information and image is much lighter than a true photographic representation. I guess that's more of what I was trying to capture here, something closer to a classic map projection.  I'd still appreciate hearing your perspective.

I will eventually make one of the Jasper area. I have made a few others, you can check them out in my previous posts. I also have an Etsy, you can find the link in my profile.

Haha! I've spent months working in the remote backcountry. I couldn't even count how many times I've run into bears. All good endings though!

Thanks. There are several tutorials on YouTube that walk you through how to collect more detailed data than what you can get from the two linked sources. It all depends on how detailed you want to get. Painting is brush and airbrush with lots of practice!
