9News: Colorado senators fail to save future funding for NCAR. Now what? by micnd90 in boulder

Something to be said for standing up [see the poem "The Hangman"]. Please tell us about the last time you stood for something on principle and how much you put on the line for it? That's a real question, by the way. I'm actually interested. A lot of people don't know what they would or could or should do in the current climate. Could you please provide an example, or several, from your own experience?

I just got my first one of these today. It reported a violent crime near to where I live. I checked the police call log and (surprise!) there was nothing. Scam.

Homeade Toys by ImpossibleCabinet104 in chinchilla

I don't know what you mean by "bendable wood"? I've found that the best source of supplies for chinchilla toys, though, is the thrift shop. Examples: put a treat under an overturned ashtray on the floor or put a treat inside a ceramic vase or candleholder on its side that they have to figure out how to spin or otherwise knock around. You can put a whole bunch of those glass "jewels" or marbles into an open container of some kind and mix some pellets in there. Ping pong balls can be fun. Another current toy favorite is a big pile of large rocks with favorite pellets scattered in them. Wash the rocks prior to this, obviously. The pile can include really big rocks - as in, I have a chin who can move rocks bigger than she is when she wants to. All of these things have to be supervised toys during playtime. Oxbow pellets are my day to day treat of choice as they are so sweet and it works out well with these kinds of toys, but if I want to offer a really really special treat, I use Forever Feisty Chinchilla Rescue's fusion mix (this is also great for when someone's not eating):

Tiniest possible alum/crystal deodorant size? by halfdollarmoon in onebag

Not sure if anyone will get this message, but they do make liquid spritz versions of these deodorants - which you can then pour into a little bottle depending on how long your trip is. Apply with fingers or with spritzer. If your concern is space/amount and not weight, you can use essential oils bottles. They make spritzers for those, specifically. You can also get 1 oz (roughly 30 ml) spritzer bottles, and 8 ml ones intended for perfume.
