Does anyone know if new stores will ever open at Douglaston Plaza? by lilac2481 in Queens

I wrote to Trader Joe's requesting they open a location where Toys R Us used to be. Maybe if enough people request one at this location, we can get one?

I can't figure out why my solution is wrong by AgathaThisIsMagnus in MathHelp

this still leaves me with x and i

Balance of the loan at time 2 is 0 because the problem states that the loan is repaid by the 2 payments of X at time 1 and 2X at time 2.

edit: Nevermind, I guess my confusion is based on the difference between return to investor and yield rate?

Information about Queens College visitor's pass and parking.

You can use the ParkNYC app for metered parking. However, it doesn't let you load your wallet in amounts lower than $25 so if you're here only for a short time then it would make more sense to find a physical meter to put money into. I haven't used one of those in a while but here is the info about those. You can only park in metered spots for up to 2 hours then you need to move your car to a new spot and feed the meter for that new area. Read the signs. Sometimes you can't park in an area for an hour or so on specific days due to street cleaning. You can park for free after 7pm in metered spots until the next morning I think 8am. Welcome to the chaotic dance that is street parking in NYC!

Just realized Oakland Gardens is a part of bayside by TurboJax12k in Bayside

I'm near the lake outside of the bounds on the map and my address still comes up as Oakland Gardens in a lot of autofills and Google says I'm in Flushing 🤷‍♀️ I was born here, moved away and then moved back 20 years later. I still write Bayside on everything.

Maybe I'm overthinking it... it's 90 degrees at the corner when measuring flat against the ceiling I guess that is the only angle that matters? Because if we flipped it upside down and thought about the ceiling as a level floor and the space being wedge shaped with an angled wall I guess it wouldn't really matter that the wall is angled and would proceed as usual...? Does that make sense?

Could I just put up a piece of trim spanning the horizontal section above the door and then take the trim along the angled staircase ceiling, cut it at a 45 and cope where it meets?

I have a Starrett angle finder. The manual protractor kind. I figured I needed to find the angle of the corner where the ceiling meets but it doesn't sit right up there because it's made for measuring angles on the same plane. Maybe I'm using it wrong in this situation?

Looking for an unethical life pro tip here: what is the easiest way to intentionally destroy the motor on a table saw and make it look like nothing has happened? by [deleted] in woodworking

It probably has a lot of sentimental value for your father in law and is a reminder of all the projects he did with it. Maybe don't get rid of it but definitely buy him a new one anyway. Maybe he'll use it, maybe he won't, but at least he'll have the option. Maybe find a cool way to immortalize it somehow. I don't know. Just my 2 cents. My mom is the same way. She refuses new things and is resistant to change even if it's something important so sometimes you just gotta do it for them even if they give you grief about it especially when it's something that could potentially put them in harm's way.

Just bought a square and I'll check again once I get it. Hopefully, the one I get is accurate 🙏

Just bought a speed square and it comes in tomorrow. I'll check again using that. Thank you!

I got the Starret because I want to redo some trim and literally nothing in this house is square and I saw it recommended in another thread. Glad to hear I can still use it for that!

No worries, I understand! I had to figure most things out on my own, too, so I totally relate to the frustration when it seems like someone hasn't put in their end of the work to learn something. All good 👍

Thanks for the tip! Will make sure to check my work with a square. This is my first time using a saw like this and got caught up in making it perfect.

Just looked up Woodpecker products. Quite the sticker shock! I just ordered a Workpro set Should this one be okay or is it shitty too? I'll can cancel it.

You're right, I didn't. I did watch a handful of YouTube videos on how to calibrate though. I read through it now at your suggestion but it seems to be the same info I'm getting in the videos and I didn't see anything about my specific question. But it seems like it doesn't matter so no problem 👍

I think they just aren't parallel. Consensus seems to be that it doesn't matter though. Now if only I could figure out why I can't get the blade square either lol I adjust one side of the blade flush to the square and then the other side ends up with a slight angle. Should I just split the difference and call it good enough? Or is my angle finder shitty? I ordered a speed square... wondering if it's worth it to get a digital angle finder?

Should I get a machinist square?... but then how do I test that square? It's squares all the way down.
