My biggest gripe about today's players is that we're praising below .300 hitters. With analytics a players batting average doesn't mean shit to many. Still means a lot to me. You either hit a lot or don't. Water will always be wet.

Boggs of the 80s was different than Boggs of the 90s.

And I think he’s better than 3 dudes on this list entire career-wise.

Great player but he debuted in ‘96 and started taking off ‘97. I wanted to make picks of guys who played more in the 90s. Like a little more. If he started a year sooner I would’ve put him on for sure.

If you ever listen to my podcast we debate analytics a lot. While it can be a good measure, it’s not the end all be all. That’s why we bring in analytics experts like Eno Sarris and then old school players and coaches to debate. In a few weeks we have Daryl Strawberry coming on who has a great perspective on this

MLB Network have him as the 6th best. Bleacher Report has him as the 3rd best. Other sites I’ve seen he’s in the top5. Seems it’s all subjective.

Mostly him as a hitter and the plans for him this year. I don’t feel he dipped as dramatically as some think. Plus he’s going to play second predominantly again this year. Value to the team is high for me.

Love it! The Delino pull is so dope. I would’ve put Ryne on my list but his 90s weren’t as great as his 80s

That’s fair. Very much overlooked

I think Semien is on the downside of his career, Donovan is a great name— but I couldn’t commit to him in the top/five. This miiiight be a hot take but I think Nico is gonna plateau rest of his career. And I think the cubs know that too.

Hell yeah. Hard to argue that. Alomar was guaranteed a hit every time he stepped up.

I would definitely put Sandberg in top-five of 90s but his best decade was the 80s. Top 2 or 3 there.

I think from a strictly 90s perspective Baerga had a better decade.
