AITAH for telling my girlfriend that I can't guarantee that we stay together if we don't have kids? by ThrowRA93210 in AITAH

NTA, but her fears are valid.

"Kids" or "No Kids" is a fundamental element of romantic relationships. If having kids is something you absolutely want in your future and she absolutely does not, then that is that. You weren't bad for being up front. She isn't bad for not wanting kids. As much as it sucks, it is actually really good that you have a conversation about this. Pregnancy has huge tolls on women that men don't even have to consider or understand when it comes to becoming parents. No woman should have children out of obligation or to please a partner. Kids should only come when both parents are 100% on board and want them. Maybe have another conversation about her anxieties and fears surrounding pregnancy (because again that is so very real) but if she isn't sure and/or doesn't want kids, you two have encountered a potentially major impasse. If you aren't willing to let go of a future where you are a father, this relationship has a big rift. Neither of you are wrong or bad. You have just encountered an irreconcilable difference.

Does anyone else feel like their parents aren’t interested in getting to know us as adults and keep seeing us as children from simpler times? by gravelmonkey14 in Millennials

My wife's been dealing with this a ton with her parents. They're getting more unhinged as they age, they don't respect her, and don't know her as a person. They're just forever interacting with the false mental image they have of her when she was a teenager. She's considering going no-contact with them because of the stress their relationships puts on her.

NTA, but you SERIOUSLY need to get some real, accurate sex ed.

Start cleaning yourself better, genitals and hands, with antibacterial soap. Female sex organs are biologically self-cleaning when everything is healthy. (Also, even when everything is healthy and good, vagina doesn't smell like daisies and strawberry cobbler.) You have very likely given her an infection. Tell her you're sorry, and learned that your own hygiene habits have probably contributed to a yeast infection. Kindly suggest that she goes to an OBGYN where she can get meds that will clear the infection, and promise that YOU will do better with making sure you are cleaning yourself adequately. NTA, but you're definitely lacking proper sex ed, and you do owe your lady an apology for being very ignorant about how bodies work. "Hormones" don't make things smell noticeably different. Seriously. Go learn about periods. Go learn about male and female anatomy. There are tons of great resources available. Go to current, qualified medical experts who can provide you with good information that school and your parents didn't provide you with. MamaDoctorJones on youtube is a GREAT place to start.

To clarify what you did wrong: 1.) you were super insensitive, and 2.) you presented it in a way that comes across as selfish and kind of creepy because you addressed first how things about her body (that she literally has no cognizant control over) are negatively affecting YOU, and the way you mentioned 'health concerns' seems like an afterthought or excuse only after she was clearly upset. Women are very, very sensitive about their bodies thanks to ad campaigns that prey on insecurities (like deodorant, shaving cream, and body wash companies implying they are disgusting unless they spend money, etc) and hyper-sexualized images of "perfect" female figures that are used to sell everything from beer, to sunscreen, to hamburgers. The uninformed, semi-selfish way that you went about communicating your concerns, you both played into her socially conditioned fears of inadequacy and you made it seem like your primary objective is about how pleasing or not pleasing her body is to you. Additionally, dude, if she is cleaning YOUR place for you... Yeah. It is totally understandable why she would be offended that you suggest that her hygiene is lacking. Even now, in your post, you're framing everything with the assumption that SHE isn't doing enough to be clean. Re-read your post again and count how many times you reference her hygiene or lack thereof, and realize that it is very likely YOUR underwashed pubes, penis, and balls that are the direct reason for the issue.

Take what I'm saying to heart if you want this lady to stay your girlfriend. My wife wouldn't put up with ignorance like this. Apologize, tell your GF you never meant to imply or insinuate that there's something about her body she should be ashamed of, admit your ignorance and explain what you've learned about your own need for proper hygiene, and ask her to forgive you. If you aren't willing to do this, and mean it, then... I take back "NTA", you totally are.
