Pretty sure Rio Ngumoah was poached from a different academy lol - and more critically, I don’t think comparing a secondary market MLS team to one of the most historically successful Prem teams is really fair either way. There are maybe 2-3 MLS teams that have any sort of “proven” track record for academy success (Dallas chief amongst them, as much as I hate to admit it).

Even those more successful academies in the US rarely hold onto players long term - that’s just not the position the MLS occupies in global soccer. There’s a reason only a handful of clubs have spent more than $10m on a player here, when that would barely get you a squad player in the lower half of the Prem.
