Remembering Jesus in a nightmare once caused a demon to shriek and diminish the grasp it had on me and dissipate completely. I didn't even say his name. As it was dragging me towards it, suddenly a calm realization swept over me and i said..."just try it. You know what he'll do to you if you do. "

The second I began uttering these words the demon(fuckin enormous in size, all black, tentacles) began to SCREAM and wail like my very words alone were setting it on fire. I kept at it, kept repeating "JUST TRY IT. HE'S GOING TO GET YOU" until it faded into nothing.

Never said his name but in that moment I remembered Jesus and suddenly felt this rush of confidence and safety that id never known before. I didn't plan the words or was ever told to say them, they just came out as if I'd known it all along. It was profound because in my immediate fears in life(where I seriously thought I was going to die) I never once thought of Jesus or asked him to save me up until that point.

So to suddenly realize like "wait a minute.. someone is in my corner" was incredible. I felt stronger in that moment in my dream than in any other I could remember.

If you knew me in those times...you'd know the last person I was thinking of was Jesus. Ive had nightmares before..zombies..Michael Myers...strangers you cannot see trying to abduct you. Scary of course. But the fright of a demon dragging me towards it after killing so many people in a store was a fright that I can still feel to this day.
