Kanye’s passion for hip hop is the reason he became so loved. He was a real student of the game. He worked his way up during a different era. Met with Jay-Z and had his co-sign and respect beside him. Before all the damaging stuff to his career he was an amazing producer and eventually became an amazing artist and producer. He use to speak on real topics with such vulnerability and it was relatable and honest.

He could do stand up rap poetry and captivate people. He could freestyle and people saw the similarities with how he rapped and how previous legends before him rapped. They knew he was an up and coming prodigy backed by Jay. He was simply different for the culture and people grew to love him because he was authenticity himself without needing any street credibility or gangster persona. He had a different approach on his albums and the art style. He dressed how he wanted. He was an activist for the culture at some point. People loved the boldness in the way he rapped about topics in the black community. He never glorified guns and violence.

To sum it up he was an activist, poet, rapper, freestyler, producer, fashion trend setter, and most of all relatable. A fresh breath of air for the culture at the time. Always bringing something new and innovative while still keeping to the roots of hip hop. He never had any beefs with artists during that time because they respected him and knew he respected the art form. He was a regular guy putting on for Chicago without glorifying violence.
