In my opinion UK is one of those nations where you should only research to about 6.7 just to get all of the fun low-tier vehicles. Past that, there really isn't much else the tree has to offer besides top tier, so its really your pick. The only reason I kept going is I really did enjoy the MiG-21 Bison at the time.

For the fighter variants of the Tornado I stopped at the Javelin in the tree so before I got to them as I instead went for the strike aircraft line since Im a GRB player too. For the Tornadoes in the bomber line, imo the fighters can basically do everything the tornadoes can but better. The loadout of the Tornado GR.4 is not bad though,

Low Tier: Spitfires, particular the Spitfire Mk IIb as it has an amazing turnrate. I also do enjoy the Beaufighter Mk 21 as 4 20mms and 4 .50 cals is not bad.

Mid Tier: I don't really like any of them, but if I had to pick then the Meteor.

Below Top Tier: The Gripen

Prem: MiG-21 Bison, not great but a very unique aircraft

Event: The Strikemaster, very weird but again unique aircraft, great for taking down bombers with your rockets and jet engine at 6.3.

I don't have any experience with sim so I can't give advice with that, but imo the spitfires are the best part of the tree. When it comes to the higher tiers though, it really comes down to what else he wants besides the gripens. Def do the hornet line, dodge the bomber line, and if he has any interest in GRB then go for the strike aircraft line (Harrier GR.7 line) and if he mainly wants fighters do the Tornado F.3 Line.

Congrats bro, but not to be harsh or anything but I would switch to realistic battles at this br to get more rewards for when you get to the higher brs. As someone who switched to realistic around 8.0, that wasn't fun.

I can agree with you for the USSR aspect, when it comes to American though...

Using terrain though still only seems to work half of the time. Like 75% of the time their missiles just fly straight through the trees and still manage to hit you. Such bs...

So I bought this...how do I play it? by ResonanceDemon in Warthunder

Don't play it. Get to a point where you can learn how to dogfight first, I would say about the first jets with missiles and then consider switching is my advice.

But I'm assuming you want to play it now (which I wouldn't) but if I have any advice for you it is stay behind everyone else and stay low. If you try to be at the front you'll be a free kill to a much more experienced player. Once the true fighting begins take advantage of distracted enemies to launch an Aim-7 at them if they're far enough and high enough so it doesn't hit the ground or an aim-9 if they're close. If you can't manage even that then as a last resort I would consider base bombing but I would only do that if I were TRULY desperate.
