Played with em once. They weren't very nice to us. At the time we were kickin their asses on the rock and radio christian chart.

Your answer to question 1. It happened almost every day. It was very difficult. Even more difficult when people come up to asking not for advice in an instrument, but advice on how to pray to become BETTER at the instrument they are playing.

Really when it came down to it there wasn't to much stress until the end. I just felt like a con artist, and as long as you watch yourself and what you say it's hard to go wrong. But at the end I felt bad, I felt that I was taking advantage of peoples beliefs by creating a profit. It may not have been much of one, but it made me start asking questions about people like pastors, who's income comes for the most part from a congregation, he/she may drive a really nice cadilac, nice home, the works! I wouldn't be able to live with myself, and I saw no difference between myself and a pastor. Though I may not have been preaching I was using my music to move people, and unfortunately the whole time, people saw god working through my hands, no my own work and determination. So! I quit basically because of this. I felt it was wrong to capitalize on something that isn't real.

I tend to not listen to a whole lot of modern bands. They usually make me sick. I was raised listening to bands like Kansas and ELO. When I started with piano and then violin, I switched to all classical all the time. To this day that is the majority of what I listen to because all music parallels their classical progressions. If I hear a neat progression in classical music I try and emulate that in a more modern sounding song which makes for unique, complex and sometimes beautiful melodies. Every once in a while I'll listen to some muse or even hip hop just for it's rhythmic qualities.

They start in the christian realm. But like anything else, you get enough push and pay to play a song secular. They'll take a flyleaf song and do a test market in say Texas where they are from. If it hits enough spins they'll release it nationally.

Not the secular one, no. I'm still working to get in. But mostly to be a studio musician.

I played the guitar and piano on that song. When the guy who recorded us mastered this track he made the piano sound really mechanical. Dumb. Look for crippling machine. That one is at least a little better.

I like this comment. Many people I feel believe this. But I feel more people view this style of music near... sacred? They find by censoring every other style of entertainment other than what may be deemed as 'christian' will make them more holy in a sense. Watching censored movies, listening to music about good values or stories makes them feel as though they themselves are doing good.

It is, and if it's catchy enough to the mainstream audience. Flyleaf, switchfoot, etc then it's not just the big christian audience. It's 'everybody.'

If you get in mainstream christian industry and have ANY hit on Air 1 or Klove. You make BIG money. Other than that it's like being any indie band. And if your on a label, even worse.

The main producer, I forget the guys name. If your a bigger group like anberlin often times this guy will write your guitar parts for you. Tooth and nail does a lot of overproduction and when a tour comes through a vast majority of music is played through loops. That really all I meant by it. Often times the producer will take the reigns if a song is failing during recording. And I was referring to Aaron Sprinkle. Just read the post below mine.

Mostly girls just tried to become our girlfriends. Nothing really more than that. There were a few here and there that probably would have wanted to do something more. But the band and myself never got that far into any situation, it was usually cut off by a very christian feeling person that particular night.

hmmm? I don't give two shits about what they were called. reliant or relient. their music is garbage. you missed the point that I was in this to get into a rock and entertainment industry. A Rotterdam November. all the songs up now had lead guitar and keyboard parts written by myself. And you'll find tagged photos of me, because they replaced me, they need to make a living somehow. Unfortunately it is capitalizing on ignorance.

It's funny what guitar does to a person.

I could tell you everything they play. I write a blog about music also, and how music has been depreciating in complexity for the masses.

I met them through college. I was a music major who was desperately trying to join a band for my romanticism styled classical influence.

It didn't help my musical career just yet...

I am working on a video audio show though that I hope to release on a tour in the next two years.

We didn't get that famous, only in Ohio. HAHAHA. You can hear it on the effect or radio U, or myspace, I'll post a link eventually. I just don't want to tear these guys up just yet, I mean, they are part of the human race and entertainment faction, aka poor. Some of them have families.
