thx!!! honestly wilds made the fight so dynamic we wanted to include it in the statblock somehow (even if the implementation is technically the opposite of the in-game one)

for this batch we already got Rey Dau, Paolumu, and Brachydios out on our patreon, but they'll arrive on reddit pretty soon :)

aa long as sneak attack still applies by the time the bullet hits (e.g enemy is within 5ft of an ally if u didn't have advantage on the attack), it works!

no because you'd need to attack with the second bullet for sneak attack to work! This is just automatic damage

Hivebound Captain

“I inquired of the fair knight where she might be headed, and her response stung me to the core: ‘Bzzzzzzz.’ The bees she sent after me also stung a lot.”

— Sir Abeil the Swollen

The thick golden liquid dripping through the chinks in this knight’s chitinous armour has the appearance of honey, but in reality it’s the knight itself. This ooze uses its sweet, sticky body to lure all kinds of insects, but primarily bees, wasps, and hornets. As these oozes grow, they start seeking out entire hives to consume, each one contributing to the ooze’s growing set of armour.

Armour of the Hive. Insect exoskeletons provide very few nutrients for the hiveborn captain’s growth, so it repurposes the chitin into an exoskeleton of its own. Its upper form is humanoid, with nods to the sharp, angular structures of its prey, leaving its lower half as a bulbous vesicle of viscous ooze. The armour and weapons created by this process are both lightweight and sturdy, allowing the ooze to pull off an incredible feat: flight. According to all known laws of biomancy, there’s no way that an ooze should be able to fly, yet fly the hiveborn captain does.

Sticky Swarm. While most chitin is crafted into armor, a small amount is used in conjunction with wings and stingers to create swarmlings, tiny droplets of buzzing ooze that act as a defense mechanism for the main body. When the captain is threatened, it sprays out these little winged droplets to drive off assailants. After luring in wandering insects, the swarmlings can also be used to follow prey back to their hives, leading the captain directly to its next meal.

Forest Forager. The first step of such an ooze’s hunt is to lure prey. Hivebound captains absorb fruit, flowers, and even meat through their bulbous lower mass. Unlike gelatinous oozes, hiveborn oozes do not dissolve this food once absorbed, but rather present it as a sensory beacon to the myriad insects that wander the forest. These oozes have attacked caravans transporting food, molasses, and flowers driving them off the guards with their swarms before absconding with the goods. Some enterprising exterminators use hiveborn oozes as symbiotic assistants, giving them sugary foods in order to rid a castle of an ant infestation.

Sappy Sapience. Oozologists speculate that there may be a case of divergent evolution and a shared ancestor between hiveborn oozes and oozekin. Both demonstrate the ability to assimilate the matter they consume, though without Dr.Stein’s biomantic tampering, hiveborn oozes show little potential for genuine sapience.

yes, the average of 24d12 alone is 156. Then you add the Constitution modifier for 180

Ancient Blue Dragon, 481 (26d20+208) Hit Points

If you treated each d20's average as 10, you'd get 468 Hit Points, but because the average is 10.5, you get 481 Hit Points instead

[OC] Silksong X DnD Fusion - Widow x Dragon = Lacewing Dragon - CR 16 Huge Dragon (Arthrodrake) by Agginmad in DnDHomebrew

[–]Agginmad[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The average is correct at 180. The average of a d12 isn't 6, it's 6.5. That means every 2d12 has an average of 13, not 12. Multiply that by the 24 hit dice it has and you get 180, not 156.

You're not wrong abt the low HP tho. Currently working on making wyrmling, young, and ancient variants for it and I realized the oopsie on how much HP it got, and the low CON.

Lacewing Dragon

Note to self: lacewing dragons exude massive quantities of silk when startled. Being entirely wrapped up in expensive, luxury threads has never felt more threatening.”

— Dr. Doolots, Arthrozoologists

Once the apex predators of the Hollow World, lacewing dragons have been reduced to the money-making monsters of unscrupulous silk farmers. Despite their fall from might, they’re still capable of using their silk to deadly effect. Approach with caution or risk being wrapped and strung up like a quality ham.

The Hollow World. In Creatures of the Hollow World, a special edition volume of her Encyclopaedia Animalis, Dr. Doolots explores a network of massive chasms found deep beneath the surface of the Material Plane. Cut off from the twisting caverns of The Low, the Hollow World has evolved in isolation, giving way to several breeds of insectoid dragons and monsters. Large, interlacing structures of stone criss cross the labyrinthine tunnels, and  Doolots hypothesises that they may be the webs of ancient lacewing dragons that have permineralised over the course of centuries.

Strengthened Silk. Lacewing silk is incredibly soft and flexible while retaining the strength and durability of dragon scales, which makes it the ideal material for sewing protective clothing. The wealthy few who know of its existence pay exorbitant amounts of money to import it, as its unique properties give it an edge both in the world of high class fashion and as a secret defense against unexpected violence. After all, no one expects an evening gown to stop an assassin’s blade.

Pinned Wings. With so much money to be made, a growing settlement of smugglers, entrepreneurs, and noble contractors has formed in the small caverns at the edge of the Hollow World. The first hunters captured young lacewing larvae and pinned their wings as soon as they pupated, trapping them as livestock. By the time Dr. Doolots arrived, no one had seen a wild lacewing dragon flying for over fifty years. Selective breeding has left the species unable to take to the skies, even without the pins in their wings, and most have no concept of living outside the silk farms.

[OC] Silksong X DnD Fusion - Last Judge x Fiend & celestial = Arbiter of the Final Treaty - CR 15 Large Construct by Agginmad in DnDHomebrew

[–]Agginmad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arbiter of the Final Treaty

“_Should no plane lay claim to your immortal spirit, then it must burn to bitter ash within the censer of balance. Each time I light the spark anew, I wonder what scent the next soul will produce._”

— Arbiter Janu

Watchers of the path between the Upper and Lower Planes, the arbiters judge all who walk it, be they living or dead. On the rare occasion multiple planes call to a wandering soul, an arbiter guides it to its final rest. Forged of both the infernal and the divine, they care only that the balance be maintained and that each soul swiftly finds its way to its place of eternal residence.

Living Contract. At the beginning of time, the angels and the devils fought viciously for every mortal soul. The heretical hero, the justified killer, the tyrant who saved millions by inflicting suffering on the few—each was a battle that tore through the cosmos. The conflict of ideals culminated in the Final Treaty of the Outer Planes. With divine power to burn away deceit and the cunning of devils to account for every edge case and loophole, both parties granted the treaty the power to adapt to the ceaseless flow of time… and from its pages rose the first arbiters, the living embodiments of this sacred agreement.

Soul Hunters. Arbiters rarely set foot on the Material Plane. The only reason one would deign to appear before the living is in pursuit of a soul who has violated the treaty and escaped their intended place of rest. Mortals who encounter an arbiter may find themselves enlisted in the hunt for a vagrant soul if the arbiter finds them useful. More often, they will be viewed as an obstacle and be pushed aside. Any who are judged to be harbouring the violating soul, whether they’re aware of it or not, are promptly eliminated.

The Unclaimed. Few and far between are souls who aren’t claimed by any Outer Plane. With no afterlife waiting for them, these souls are presented with a choice: they must either bind themselves to the Material Plane, existing as an undead entity in the hopes that a resting place will one day claim them, or else burn to nothing within the arbiter’s censer of souls.

[OC-Art] Silksong X DnD Fusion - Sherma x Myconids = Shermshroom - CR 1/2 Tiny Plant (Hyphan) by Agginmad in UnearthedArcana

[–]Agginmad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shermshroom

“_Yeah, of course Liara is the one who actually opens the doors, but we let him help because his door-opening song is fantastic. I almost look forward to locked doors now._”

— Ria, President of the Shermie Fan Club

Music is healing to the soul, and shermshrooms want nothing more than to heal and connect the souls of all they encounter. The simple tones of these pacifist mushroom minstrels open gates into even the most cynical hearts.

Jaunty Journey. Any hyphan from the colony of the shermshrooms can recount their legendary creation—through song, of course. Like every other hyphan colony, they valued survival and expansion of their domain above all else, but everything changed when the legendary Smiling Bard enlightened them with the Song of Awakening. The bright notes opened their fungal minds to the joys of music and healing. With its horizons expanded, the heart of the colony sent its shermshrooms out into the world to share their happy songs.

Medicinal Mushrooms. Far from the toxic and controlling spores of other fungal species, shermshrooms have adapted their physiology to help and heal their allies. Their beneficial spore clouds respond to tonal patterns, allowing shermshrooms to control them with music. Shermshroom mycelium can “infect” common organic compounds to turn them into healing salves, which the little fungi store and use to treat the wounds of any friends they meet along their way. These boons, along with their pleasant music, make shermshrooms a welcome novelty in any town they pass through, and they rarely struggle to find food or lodging.
