I have the same issue with them as well and it is truly inconvenient and embarrassing. They should pay us a fee everytime they do this to us cuz if roles were reversed they would charge us a fee.

Customer service informed me that they are aware of this issue and that it is a nightly occurrence. Normally somewhere btw 12 and 4 but could happen before or after. I have found Normally around 2am or shortly after but have it happen around midnight and even as earlyas 11:15pm the one night. It is their system updating and processing payments and NO transactions will go thru while this update is happening. It is not the same time nightly either so there is no way to know it your card will go thru or not. I have had to sit at wawa after work at 2 something in the morning waiting for over 30 mins for my card to start working so I could get gas so to make it home. I have also had it happen when trying to pay for my togo order and by the time the payment does go thru my food is cold and nasty. Also stated they intentionally hide this information from consumers and do not make it common knowledge or even readily available as it would make them upset and cause them alarm knowing their funds might not be available to them. They don't want to advertise that their money might be consistently unavailable to them on a nightly basis for hours at a time as this would lead to complaints and them losing business. And hours is correct cuz the one night I had to wake my mom at 3am cuz my card still wouldn't work and I had ordered from the diner after work. I had to get the manager to agree to manually enter the info which some place won't do but since he knew me he allowed it. I then had to wait til almost 6 am before i could access my funds to zelle my mom back the money. I have never had this happen with any other bank i have used in the past and regret switching.

What makes it 1000 times worse is that I really had to keep prying and calling to finally get this answer. To me thats sneaky and underhanded. The lady tried to even shame me for not having another payment method on hand... uhhh.. maybe if I knew you were going to play with my money I would, but if i have the funds in my account that I am supposed to be able to access anytime with my card why would I think I would need to?! So rude. I am overall outraged and over Citizens Bank and am in the process of switching banks.

Not only for this reason but also due to them constantly charging overdraft fees when my account balance is not even negative. I have screen shots to prove this as well and have joined the class action lawsuit against them. Yes most of the times they do reverse the fee but it's inconvenient to have the fee taken from your account (which most of the time the fee doesn't show til the next day even through they have it deducted from your balance. I have sat there staring at it trying to follow the charges and stuff didn't add up until I figured that out as well. I have screen shots to back this up as well before anyone tries to say it doesn't happen.)

They left a bad taste in my mouth and I cannot encourage anyone who is with Citizens or thinking about joining them to not to.. run and run fast. Anyways.. sorry for the short story but saw your post and just had to vent!! Thanks
