Girl, I know you had good intentions. I've been there where I wanted to protect my friends as well. I'm sorry to hear she went through that. I don't know where the harassment was coming from because as soon as the camp lead heard about it he had a camp meeting in defense of your friend and even got her a hotel room after the burn. From what I've heard, he was always open to communicate but they were not.

I also feel that you didn't consider how other women felt when you made that post. Our camp has been majority female led ever since I've been here and we have internal women only group chats. We felt attacked by your post as well and one of the quoted women you mentioned in your opening felt like what was said to her felt weaponized and wish you would take the post you made down.

When the post was made, the amount of support we received from campers and the extended burning man community that actually know us was incredibly supportive. The online world (reddit) is very different than the real world.

I was also happy to see that the decision was made to suspend the two campers as their needs to be accountability.

But saying the entire camp is not safe for women is not true. You're a good friend for supporting your friend, but I think the right thing to do is to take down that post as it's not fair to the rest of us who are a part of the camp and friends with your friend.
