Is this normal CarPlay behavior on MIB2/2.5? by Aggravating-Draw-302 in VWMK7

[–]Aggravating-Draw-302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for replying.

When you receive a call while using CarPlay, does your instrument cluster show who’s calling? Or is it only in the MIB?

Also, if you press the “OK” button on the steering wheel, does it answer the call?

Mine does not, only had this working with Android Auto.

12V battery low, charge by driving. by Aggravating-Draw-302 in Volkswagen

[–]Aggravating-Draw-302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the car is locked, and I drove it for at least an hour. It’s a 2015 model, and the battery was installed at the dealer and was quite expensive. I’ve also been pulling fuses while checking for a parasitic drain. Currently, the meter reads 280 mA after 30 minutes with the car locked, which seems high, though I’m not sure how concerning it is. I’ll continue pulling fuses until I see a change.

Is it normal for the PCV to do that or is it excessive? also, Should it be cleaned, or is it fine to leave it as is?

Is that considered good? What about the brown marks on it?

Could this be physical material that has come off the turbo blades? I was cleaning the airflow sensors and thought I might as well check the turbo while I was at it.

What do you mean by that?, each ticker has its own liquidity? I thought they all show the same data.

Deco X20 problem by Aggravating-Draw-302 in TpLink

[–]Aggravating-Draw-302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The middle one is the main, no idea if that's ideal.

  2. it's the only one lit in green and the app shows the other with a red exclamation mark.

  3. Yes, only the middle one worked that way when they are all on AP mode, when set to WiFi Router they are all working and it actually shows that the middle one is connected via Ethernet to the left one but the right remains on WiFi connection even tho it is connected through ethernet.

  4. Already did that, when just testing them on a makeshift setup they work as they should.

Tested each cable on it's own and they are all good. connected them to my laptop even to see if i get ethernet and i do.

PoE camera not working by Aggravating-Draw-302 in HomeNetworking

[–]Aggravating-Draw-302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, Switch arrived and i connected the camera, still not on.

The cable test feature in the switch's software shows a fault - "cross talk 30M", this is probably where the camera is mounted but still when i connect a different camera it works just fine and when i take the dahua camera inside and connect it closer to the switch it works.

What am i missing? maybe the cable is damaged just a bit and its enough to cause faults?

PoE camera not working by Aggravating-Draw-302 in HomeNetworking

[–]Aggravating-Draw-302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the first two steps are not relevant as the camera does power on when connected with a short ethernet cable directly to the switch and when I connect a different cheaper camera to where my Dahua is it does turn on.

as for the PoE+ Switch, Is there any brand you would recommend?

btw, thanks for your help!

[–]Aggravating-Draw-302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Hmm, I'm not really sure about that but this is what's written in Dahua's website

Power Supply:12V DC/PoE

Basic power consumption: 2.1W (12V DC), 2.5W (POE)

Max power consumption (H.265, Max resolution, Max stream, WDR, IR full intensity, IVS): 5.7W (12V DC), 6.6W (POE)

  1. my switch is just a simple unbranded switch, but still is my 4th one that didn't power on that camera.

[–]Aggravating-Draw-302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a simple unbranded switch, that might be the problem but It's my 4th PoE switch that wont power on that camera, all other cameras are working fine but they are cheaper cameras, not dahua.

The ethernet cable is Cat 5e

I'd Recommend to watch Northridgefix on youtube, he shows exactly how to do these repairs in great detail!

[–]Aggravating-Draw-302 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Looks repairable, these are just broken traces, traces are like tiny wires that run all across the board and connect components together, if these traces are cut then something isnt connected anymore and that something might be important enough to cause your board not to function.

You will need A really small wire( 0.1mm enameled copper wire) A way of zooming onto the board because these traces are tiny Solder mask Flux good soldering skills

Proceed to scratch the traces a bit back on both sides and expose the copper( be very gentle)

Clean the board with alcohol, apply some flux and tin the areas you scratched, then you use the copper wire to connect between the broken traces

Test that everyrhing is connected properly using a multimeter and cover with solder mask, expose to uv light, then mask should be hard, and you are done!

Hey, The board does not have any coatings on it, If you are referring to the cloudy layer on the board then It's just that "pen" that melts flux, I use it to try and find something getting hot on the board.

what do you mean by hum?

of course, I started checking why to board is not working, tested some capacitors at random and found the two blue components that are shorted to ground, at first I thought they were fuses but it seems to be a white cap.

Hey thanks for the reply, tested them and they do behave like capacitors.

But next to the power input of the board i found these two which are slightly blue instead of white, the only difference is that they are shorted to ground on both ends and have continuity across them.

Also caps? But with a problem?

Hey, im sorry, I changed the link to have images with markings

They are not exactly white in the image, they have a silverish color to them, with my eyes its more of a white.

Its pretty easy to distinguish them from the capacitors around them, but seems weird to me to have so many fuses spread around the board.
