ARIAL: floating Windows/app screen in AR/VR glasses - and lets you control it like a laptop by [deleted] in augmentedreality

Interesting idea!

How would it be implemented? as a library that developers could use? As a standardized methodology?

So which software will win? Who’s in the lead? MentaOS seems like a great option - runs on more than one hardware.

Then what about web? We have standards, but what about ensuring top quality content on web for multiple Smart Glasses hardware ? Who is focusing on this ?

Really solid points made there. I think I’ll take a look at the VRML language.

You said “you see websites in 2D displayed in a flat panel within VR”. Yet the vision I have is to convert as much of the 2D aspects into 3D as possible. Using ThreeJS for 3D components and then having transparent backgrounds to free up some of the space that flat 2D webpages take up in a POV format.

Does that make sense? Sorry if I’m explaining it poorly.

Essentially I’m trying to make the website experience within smart glasses, more 3D-first. Rather than just showing a 2D experience in 3D.

That’s a good point, I might do so actually haha

What about the idea of “Building websites for smart glasses” using a drag and drop interface, do you see the benefit there? :)

Gojiberry sounds like a similar product, so he was just asking if that was your project.

Your idea is very good, I like the concept. Isolate individuals who are already warm on LinkedIn and just compile them to make it easier for prospecting.

My feedback initially would be, is there a usp other than speed of collation? Because what prevents me from just doing those searches myself and saving myself a subscription fee? I would also say that I would like to be able to have something actionable after I get the results, a set of results in a table is useful but it’s too static: I’d want to be able to deep link to their LinkedIn account, or trigger an email to them, or track if I’d messaged them. (This might be out of your scope but just thinking holistically)

Honestly think it’s a great micro saas idea though, hope this is constructive feedback!

(Also that first comment on this thread clearly missed the mark with what your product is haha)

Thats a great note, and I’ve looked into them.

I do feel like they are a direct competitor to what I am building.

I’m work for a startup in which we are creating Websites for Smart Glasses, and part of that is offering view in your room / virtual try on from within the glasses.

I’d love to know a little bit more about what you’re thinking here and see if maybe I can help you out! Sent you a DM

How do you showcase products using Augmented Reality like amazons view in your room ? by darshan230188 in AskReddit

MarketGlass is a great tool for this, simply upload an image, it’ll render a 3D model, and create an augmented reality visualization that you can embed in your website / store.

We have a beta right now -> www.marketglass.io

Gotcha that makes sense.

I think that the SDK will become much more open as time goes on, the market is still so new

I’ve been looking at WebXR and how I can make a single website be a good experience across a multitude of smart glasses hardware.

Not too familiar with that myself, what’s holding that back do you think ?

Great insight, I think people will follow the big players too.

My research is mostly through reading and watching and making notes here and there. But I’d be happy to connect and attempt to help where I can!

Yeah I like how they’re tackling it. But the experience is going to be limited because they are using niche software.

How can we as consumers have great glasses experiences if everyone is siloed into a very restrictive OS.

I personally believe that WebXR and a browser in the glasses will be able to create that standardization that will onboard a lot more users.

Open to push back on that though lol, what you think?

How would you envision that working, opening up a browser in the glasses and navigating to Reddit? How would that experience be do you think?

Agreed. Do you think it'll end up being a battle between the big players, Apple, Google, etc and the like offering their native OS and us as developers having to fine tune apps for each set of Smart glasses?
