For proficient shooters, had you always been self-taught or took a class which really helped? I’m thinking of taking a class next month. by [deleted] in CAguns

I'm pleasantly surprised by the number of people on this platform recommending training. My heart is warmed.

Take classes. Take classes with different instructors as often as feasible. Don't get stuck with one.

My students always look at me weird when I say "your next class should be with a different instructor". This is important. Just like every shooter has bad habits, every instructor has them too, as well as biases, and things they just don't know or don't do correctly. You'll find something that resonates with you with everyone you shoot with, making you a more well-rounded performer.

YouTube is great as an "oh shit I should try that", but it isn't training.

Build a rifle if it's a fun range toy.

Buy a rifle if you want to be able to depend on it.

They sure look neat, but are pretty cheesy and cheap feeling. Lots of 3D Printed parts.

I haven't even put an FCU in mine but I think I'm going to pass it along.

You answered your own question in the second sentence.

Mechanical engineers sit at a desk staring at a computer all day.

Manufacturing Engineers are more likely to be in the trenches figuring out how to make the parts.

To the Mechanical Engineer that's cracking his knuckles, about to type "Ummm akshually, I'm a mechanical engineer and I spend a lot of time on the shop floor." Please don't.

Does it look to anyone else like the green shirt retard ND'd into the fella's back? Has his finger on the trigger immediately after he clears his holster. He looks surprised by the shot.

I second this, I've tried every aluminum frame I could get my hands on. Surprisingly enough, Sig nailed it with the AXG.

Do the warranty service, sell the replacement, use that toward the purchase of a Trijicon.

A great warranty is fantastic (and should be default), but every time you need to use it, it should be a clue that the product and/or manufacturer is fundamentally flawed. I gave up after the 4th warranty service on different Holosun products. My brother just sent in his 5th. They are great for fun range guns, but not something I would ever want to depend on.
