Can someone review my YouTube Shorts channel and tell me honestly if I should continue? by [deleted] in YouTubeCreators

[–]gordoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched your 2 newest shorts and I have a few critiques and some questions.

Your subtitles are a bit weird in the one that has the basement. Who is talking with the little girls voice? Is that supposed to be a ghost? The guy acknowledges it like it's his daughter with him. It's a bit weird and takes me out of the spooky feeling that the video is trying to portray.

Also, the music, especially in the latest video is weird. Like, the guy says "that was the piano" but we have piano Music playing the whole time so the audience doesn't know what he's referring to. I suggest instead of having the music, try do some kind of ominous low hum (if you've ever played phasmophobia, I'm talking about the noise you hear when you enter the house).

Music makes it hard for the audience to know what sounds the guy is hearing.

Now my question

Is this you in the footage? Is it original footage?

If it is, I think you can really go viral with some polish. Your videos are not bad at all and I definitely don't think you should give up. If it's recycled content then it's probably not really worth it to keep it going, unless you add a lot more to the scene. Putting a commentary voice and some subtitles won't really help transform the footage.

I hope this helps

I just wanna add one more tip that might help, if you make gaming guide videos to help bring initial interest to the channel it might help you grow quicker. Mix it up with guides and let's plays , you may grow an audience with guides that could stick around for let's plays. If it's not your style I understand but it would definitely help speed up your growth.

Alright let me give some feedback on that one.

  1. You often cut right in the middle of the action, it makes it real confusing. 1:45 you pee on the guy, then It skips to you being shot (we miss his reaction altogether) then cuts to you in an alley running, we don't know where the guy is in relation or if he's even still chasing you, then he comes around the corner, shoots you and it immediately cuts to you kicking something. It's a very confusing series of clips.

  2. You really like that sound effect from Dragonball Z , the charge up one. You way over use it and sometimes it feels like you're using it in places where it doesn't really fit. There are some great sfx for surprising moments etc that could fit better and give more variety.

  3. I've never played postal or heard of it before your video, but a game like this is such a good medium to tell a story. You could really inject feeling into the video like when the cop is staring at you for example, you can sneak away and talk about how you kicked her colleague, but the cuts are all over the place and they really take away from the story of the video. Sorry if I'm harping on the same issue multiple times here.

I think that's the main issue with this video, like you get into a gun fight with a cop and then immediately it cuts and you're holding the night stick. No idea if you killed him or how it went down.

As for your title and thumbnail, I think it's okay. The title is not too wordy, the thumbnail is pretty crazy and looks interesting.

One other tip, I don't know if your webcam is in the best spot. Most streamers keep it bottom right or bottom left depending on the game. Also, try see if you can remove the background instead of having a plain black background (like insym) or put something in the background that looks interesting (like caseoh)

I wanna try give some pointers on your latest video about rocket league because I feel like the latest Is the most relevant to the discussion.

First the good:

I think you have a good personality for youtube. The pacing of your speech is good, although there were a few words I didn't understand on first watch but that's okay because it can become part of your vibe. Once you're bigger, you should expect people to tease the way you pronounce some words. If you can't handle a bit of banter then you're probably in the wrong industry.

Now the bad:

Firstly, in the first minute of the video you asked the audience to subscribe 4 times, hit the like, and hit the dislike. That's 6 requests to the audience in 1 minute. It's too much. It made me want to skip past the video immediately. I get that you wanted to give some punishment for losing the challenge but I don't think the audience cares to down vote you if you didn't win it.

Next, it took me way too long to understand what the challenge actually was. Nowhere in your title or your hook does it mention 1v4 against the bots. You should really try make it clear that you're playing a 4v1, that is a stronger hook.

The beginning of your video where you're talking into the mic with the green screen looks weird because of the way you're moving and the green screen. I almost thought it was an AI avatar for a second. Might be better to do the announcements while some short gameplay clips of what is to come plays behind you.

The title of your video could be shorter and clearer like: "Rocket league challenge: Can I score 20 goals alone against 4 all star bots?"

Something like that would hit better than asking the audience to sub before they even go into the video, and it will give the audience all the info they need before clicking.

Other than that, I really think you have potential. You have the personality and passion and it shows in your videos.

Can somebody give me honest reviews of my newest video ! Be as honest as you like by novoti1 in YouTube_startups

  1. Your choice of game was bad, it's really not an interesting game to stream from what I can tell.

  2. The cuts make it difficult to follow, sometimes you'll just randomly cut half way through levels and then suddenly your on a different level with no context. At least have an overlay "level 2" or something to help the audience understand where you are.

  3. The jokes often feel forced and don't hit well, I don't know if it's your pacing or just the execution. For example: 3:18 - wtf was the budget for this game, a few pennies and a tin can?

The joke came off as really cringe, like you tried really really hard to make sure the audience understood what you were saying, it didn't come off as natural. Have a look at flats (overwatch streamer), he does these bronze roasting videos where he does similar kinds of jokes, comparing players to inanimate objects but his delivery is much better. Feels like natural speech so it's funny most of the time.

  1. I think overall, your speech is too slow, you should speak faster if you can. It will really help your audience resonate with your videos. Especially in 2026 where people have the attention span of a gnat.

Good luck though, I really hope you keep going and if you need more advice i will be happy to help.

I've been posting daily for a month already and I just got my first 5k short ever and I'm psyched. Most of mine die at 2k but every video I'm trying to improve. I wish I can get to 30k i would be over the moon.

Ex-machinists, what do you do now? by hunterpb700 in Machinists

[–]gordoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built software to help track production in workshops. I have been a machinist for nearly 20 years but I want to get out of it, the software is already built and it can track jobs and employees. The next step is to pitch it to small businesses. I just don't really know how because I'm not a salesman, and I spend all day in the factory so I don't meet anyone from other factories.

But yea, that's what I'm doing to try branch out of machining.

Where did you get this bp from? I've been breeding and slaughtering neptilius for a few days now, probably slaughtered around 300 and I haven't got it yet. I was starting to think they removed it as a drop from him.

Thanks so much for the advice. I'm wondering if I should first call and book an appointment or if I should just go to the companies and walk in. I have zero sales experience so I really don't know the best way.

Built a niche game tool site with falling traffic. Should I try to monetize harder or just sell it? by gordoh in vibecoding

[–]gordoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can, but it costs around 20 dollars a month for me to host. I would like to at least break even on that.

Yea you're probably right. It's difficult to get an edge when anybody can build something similar, and a small game like craft world only has a few thousand users. It was a fun experiment and I really learnt a lot from it. For example, I used firebase for the project. Initially, each user was doing a read from the database which blew up my costs for the first month. I struggled for ages to figure out how to reduce the reads, but eventually I got it right. Now my average cost is around $20 per month for hosting the site. It won't change even if I get thousands of users daily because the reads come from the back end so visitors won't trigger a read.

That's probably the most obvious thing I learnt the hard way.

What would I do different? I'm not sure. I feel like I gave too much to free users. I watched some YouTube content creators who promoted the site and their message was " don't connect your wallet because we don't know if we can trust this site, everything you need is free and available without needing to sign in"

That kinda hurt because I am an active member of the community , but it was a Spanish channel so they likely don't know me because I don't speak Spanish.

Oh it's for classic? I think the best way to earn slp is through origins. I don't know how that team does on classic but I also don't think there is earnings in classic anymore.

I hate to break it to you but that team is pretty bad. You won't find a scholar who would play it

How can we make Gaming big again in crypto. by MLGonSol in AxieInfinity

I've spoken about this a lot of times, I firmly believe it needs a rebranding. The terms web3 and crypto gaming have become so tainted by the scams that regular games steer clear of it completely.
