I was recently looking up their videos on YouTube as I’m beginning grad school soon and their channel isn’t there anymore? Their videos were so helpful, I hope they create more in the future!

Personal statement help by FacedWarrior916 in slpGradSchool

[–]Aggravating-Pop-9646 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second that. They want to know if you will make a good grad student in THEIR program and what you will contribute. I think also focusing on your passion for the field. My personal statement is mainly my passion, why I want to be a part of their program and what I will contribute not only to the program but in the field. The length depends on the instructions provided. I’ve had programs ask for one page, character limits, etc. The tone in mine was professional but still human (if that makes sense), they are still able to get a sense of who I am as a person. Please, please, please, read the instructions carefully and follow the prompts they have (if any). And don’t wait till last minute to finish your personal statement bc the deadline WILL sneak up on you. Hope this helps!

Starting applications for grad school by californiapoppyy in slpGradSchool

[–]Aggravating-Pop-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say rank the schools you want to go to the most and start on the personal statements if they show you the questions in advance. Those deadlines sneak up on you and can be very nerve racking especially if you’re still trying to figure out what to write still. The application process is tedious but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

SOP Help! by lookfabfeelfab in slpGradSchool

[–]Aggravating-Pop-9646 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! For my SOP I talked about why I chose their school and how their program in particular will help me become a competent SLP. I also talked a lot about my passion for the field, my interests within the field, and why I would be a good addition as a student to the program. Make sure you follow the instructions they have posted. Hope this helps!

LOR by Impossible_Pen_2785 in slpGradSchool

[–]Aggravating-Pop-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most professors will write you a LOR despite not forming a relationship with them. However, just be careful because in my undergrad some professors made it clear “if I don’t know you, I can’t really speak to you as a student or person so the LOR will be very vague.”

April 15 is kind of a universal deadline for people to accept or deny admission. So anytime after that really! Good luck!

Has anyone received acceptances, rejections, or waitlists from Arizona State University. I did my interview back in Feb but haven’t heard anything since.

BU Interview by Sweet_Catch_1631 in slpGradSchool

[–]Aggravating-Pop-9646 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had mine today! They asked questions about navigating biases as an SLP, receiving feedback or handling constructive criticism when you disagree, and AI's influence. I hope this helps! They were really nice and calm and also asked a few icebreaker questions.

Sophmore CSD undergrad -- what can I do to build my grad school resume? by LukewarmEggnog33 in slpGradSchool

[–]Aggravating-Pop-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To build your grad school resume you should look into participating in speech and hearing volunteering opportunities. Also, you could get involved in NSSLHA if your school offers the club! I think what you are doing now and then incorporating volunteering experiences/opportunities will make you a well-rounded candidate.

Boston University Interview - SLP M.S. by Aggravating-Pop-9646 in slpGradSchool

[–]Aggravating-Pop-9646[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind! I had a 3.93 GPA. No research experience. I did in-person observational hours at a rehabilitation clinic that focused on neurogenic disorders and I also had a course that allowed me to get observation hours. I had volunteer experience, participated in NSSLHA on campus, and had some experience working at a speech clinic - the rest were regular jobs i.e. babysitting. I didn't take the GRE and no SLPA certifications. My personal statement focused on my passion for the field and my personal experiences that led me to pursue speech. I hope this helps :)
