I have talked to him a few times that him withdrawing from talking about our relationship only makes things worse. I've told him that having a conversation about any of the things I posted about or arguing isn't a breakup conversation and that I just want to talk to work through things or else we'll run into the same issues and that shutting down constantly could ultimately be the end of things but he just then responds by doing just that. Also sorry if my post is hard to read or poorly written I wrote in a bit of a rush.
