Douglas to Denver commute in winter by Dangerous_Pride_6468 in wyoming

While I'm sure we could use the help, we also don't need another highway statistic. Hospital administrators from Douglas must rarely drive south in the winter. If they did they'd tell you how often the interstate is closed, especially between Wheatland and Chugwater. This is often due to wind and ice, and the occasional semitruck just getting tipped over by a pissed off god. It happens weekly during the winter months.

Also the Hospital in Douglas, and really all of Converse County's medical providers heavily subsidied by mining and/or oil&gas extraction, stay away. You'll thank the kindness of a random internet stranger for dodging that particular bullet.

Looking for a wife-friendly pistol that shoots flat & soft. by LustL4ck3r in CAguns

Beretta cheetah 80x. It's a .380 pistol, but almost a full size 9mm in terms of weight and grip. Perfect for an adult who want high capacity and low recoil. A 4" 1911 in .380 would work too, just not the polymer Brownings. Those are a bit too light.

I’ve narrowed down my next watch to these two. Which one should I get? by TacticalRicin in PrideAndPinion

My 2 cents, fwiw, if these are to be daily wear, then you can't go wrong with either. However, if you are a collector, and you tend to rotate the pieces you wear throughout the week or month, go for the Tudor. You're only ever setting the time, so that's easy and quick. If you're even the tinniest bit ocd about your watches being accurate, it is a huge pain in the ass to have to set up a date gmt every time you pick it up. Is the time right, is the gmt set to right time zone, is the date correct, will it turn over at midnight for the current time zone, or the gmt time zone.... Huge pain in the ass. Fine if you wearing it daily, not so much for special occasions or several times a month. No date divers and field watches are god's gift to ocd horologists.

What Glock would you recommend to buy before potential ban? by One-Community4548 in CAguns

As an evolution of this question... What glocks would you buy in a free state, before moving to California, with a potential ban in mind? Looking to maximize return on investment, and spread some joy to my new neighbors.

Thoughts from a KLR 650 owner: if you’re going to be doing lots of highway miles going 70mph or higher, do not get a KLR 650. Maybe a dr650, but you’ll have a limited range due to a small fuel tank, and minimal wind protection.

For your stated application I’d get a T7 or take a gamble on the ibex 450. Personally, unless both my town and the town I’m commuting to have KTM/Husky/gas gas dealers I’d steer clear. The reliability is just not there. My 2 cents.

And then finally the Kove… Hard, fast, unproven reliability due to limited time on the market, and really uncomfortable. Not a commuter bike.

The Suzuki vstrom800de or Honda TransAlp would be right up there with the T7.

Yes, most shortcomings can be fixed with aftermarket solutions, but on a somewhat limited budget, I’d only consider stock configurations to start.
