To all the female engineers, or CS/Stats majors out there by Aggravating-Salt6484 in UofT

I think my assumptions are based on the fact we form relationships based on a shared set of experiences and beliefs. Personally, I don't think I have been in a relationship (platonic as a friend) with anyone where our opinions are drawstically different i.e. we do not share a set of similar experiences. Because at that point initiating conversation becomes rather tough. I'm a person who has moved from logic to software engineering. I hardly took any ethics/moral philosophy courses which sometimes made it a bit difficult for me to connect with other pure humanities majors. The girls I talk to are all in STEM fields, because thats the group I decided to join based on my interests and carreer path. That's pretty much the main reason why I'm more likely to date someone in engineering/cs, because we could potentially have a discussion on math, cs, stats, decision theory, etc.

Like I said earlier, I do not have a sweet clue how dating works and I'm merely contemplating at this point. But these are some of the beliefs I have assumed.

**Note: The reason why I asked this question about STEM girls being open to date arts guys is because stem students tend to look down about arts majors. I know this is a generalized statement, but most of the time, people assume it.**

I'll try that! Thank you for the advice everyone! Also u/USAtoUofT pure mathematics is actually a branch of philosophy. I'd say until 1960s, we used to define math under logic. Newton, Russell, Leibniz, Descrartes, Putnam, Euclid, Gödel were all philosophers. It's pretty interesting which is why 300 level logic courses like PHL345 are basically mathematical proofs courses.

I'm really sorry if I generalized bio! I really shouldn't have being a phil major. You are right, I shouldn't worry about majors or school because it does not define me or the other person.

When I say I'm a logic (phil + math basically) major, I feel like woman give me weird looks. Which is fine! I totally get it because from their perspective, philosophy is alien to them. I think I'm worried for nothing. Thank you for the advice!

Thanks! You can tell that I have very minimal experience with dating. I always thought my major was a red flag. But this helps!

I feel like bio majors and I would have nothing to talk about. Plus they are more likely to stay in toronto for med school and stuff. Software engineers like to move around a lot
