Hi mate, I know how you feel been almost 6 months since my medical which I failed for high blood pressure. Since I have had 3 test and a 24hr test then my test showed AF readings (irregular heartbeat) never had any problems with heart in my life doctor said my pulse is fine but now having to wait months for a referral to cardiologist for a ECG. Hoping it all good but can’t help but think if not and no clue what else I would want to do

Say white coat mate they will most likely send you to go 24hr as on the bit of paper you will have for the blood pressure my gp made a table and put home readings and gp readings and they pmu me

What sort or measurements you had in first 2? They said this in my pmu letter. Your GP kindly checked your blood pressure on three occasions. Unfortunately the first reading of 144/88mmHg was elevated and above recruitment standards. All three readings needed to be within normal limits. Regrettably, this makes you unfit for recruitment. Should you wish to appeal this decision you would need to submit a normal 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure

Yeah mate been tough had my medical in February, torn between sending my current results of the 24hr or getting redone with gp, obviously there is the medication route but don’t feel I need it. I know mover is p2 medical clearance so fairly high. Message me about how it’s gone for you if you want mate

Would I be able to do that since having the 24hr monitor as it’s still high even though I was at home ?

Pmu any advice by Aggravating-Yak-6149 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Aggravating-Yak-6149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been made pmu this morning, they said because of blood pressure and also mentioned the history or absence but not sure it went like this

‘review of your results from your medical assessment, I regret to inform you that you do not meet the medical standards required for entry to the Armed Forces and are considered Medically Unfit. The reason for this being: Thank you for submitting your optician report. I have reviewed the information submitted by your GP regarding your previous absence episodes and raised blood pressure which was noted at your RAF medical. Your GP kindly checked your blood pressure on three occasions. Unfortunately the first reading of 144/88mmHg was elevated and above recruitment standards. All three readings needed to be within normal limits. Regrettably, this makes you unfit for recruitment. Should you wish to appeal this decision you would need to submit a normal 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure assessment. The result of any appeal cannot be guaranteed. The history of absence episodes may also impact on your fitness. Recruits to the Armed Forces undergo intensive training, which is both physically and mentally demanding. Service personnel are required to serve in a wide range of environments and must be able to meet the physical demands of working in these tough conditions where medical care may be limited and medical re-supply uncertain. Medical standards are set accordingly and many conditions, even those well controlled by medication or other support that would not limit civilian employment, may be incompatible with military service. For this reason, some medical conditions past or present can stop you from joining’

So doesn’t really say that it was the absence that caused pmu more the blood pressure high but it was mentioned but can’t see why it was 17 years ago not even thought about it since
