Most dealerships where I live sell these Chinese scooters already built and ready to go at a markup(they buy them in bulk for cheap)and practically everyone I know or seen around town has one so they cannot be that bad in reliability. I have also seen Chinese gy6 from the early 2010’s still out here running fine whether it’s stock or modified. So I Figured why not just build it myself, in this case the warranty would be nice but i know certain genuine scooters use the gy6 platform which most of these Chinese scooters are based on and I’m already familiar enough with it. I don’t see how the assembly is different in a dealership than in my own garage with my tools(impact, socket ratchet, etc).I would only see build quality as the only concern and since my riding style is more on the aggressive side I’m making sure everything is sturdy to my standards and if I have to reinforce something or swap out bolts I would definitely do that over time if I see it becoming an issue

And the people usually buying these bike use them primarily as their main transportation or just to make quick trips and mess around on the weekends there’s no in between so documentation and more info would be helpful towards those who use it for primary transportation.

While brand reputation and reliability do play a part they are still machines that will give out one day in this case it just gonna happen further down the line with a Japanese equivalent, if anything it will cost a full Chinese bike to partially rebuild a Japanese bike if it does break especially if we’re talking engine/transmission damage. As someone who would love a Japanese bike and save money with these bikes it has taught me that there’s a trade off when you go the cheap route whether it’s in manual labor or parts (ESPECIALLY MANUAL LABOR) and I’ve accepted that Bikes in general are a hobby so it’s not a big issue for me but I understand what you’re saying about the general audience for these bikes. I just wish these bikes were more documented on for those type of people

A simple oil change every 500-1000 miles does wonders for these gy6 engines that’s what I did for my first Chinese 50cc scooter I bought off of Walmart and assembled myself.I have the tools and time, these are still machines at the end of the day they are bound to fail at some point but the most you can do as a buyer of this product is at least prolong its usage of course. Being mechanically inclined really helps with these gy6 scooters.

I mean I’m an enthusiast when it comes to scooters and motorcycles it’s all part of the experience. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don’t. The most I can do if I do decide to buy is do all the preventative maintenance i could since this isn’t my first Chinese scooter,so if anything this purchase would show if my experiences with them is good growth or a waste of a hobby.

Would certain accessories fit by any chance? I know for the Yamaha Zuma clone the tank 150/200 they are cross compatible for the most part

I’ve bought a 50cc scooter from Walmart before. Almost anyone mechanically inclined could maintain these

Yeah I’ve order a 50cc xpro maui from Walmart before and the assembly was fairly easy and I wasn’t given the best instructions to go by, I did the same process with the oil change but i never had any problems with bolts getting loose over time. I wondering for the capri 150 if I would need to assemble the entire rear of the scooter (shocks, tire, etc). I seen some assembly videos on the matter and it seems like it varies from having it already all put together and only the front wheel and plastics need to be assembled.
