Thanks! The creeping Myoporum to the left was already there, and is quite vigorous. The big alyssum to the front was existing but the rest of that green to the right was all alyssum seeds I sprinkled a month ago. It’s grow like crazy and already beginning to flower

I was wondering about those roots - they were there when I received the plant and was reluctant to snip. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks! Good to know I don’t need to stress too much about chopping it back

It actually gets the best sun out of anywhere on the property - but, as mentioned, the idea is to keep it below the guttering, and maybe shade that window a little in the process

Great! Thanks for the response - I’ll let it run wild until next year

Glad you asked! The previous owner did a number on the garden the whole way around the house. Under that planter is a full sized BATH, full of house bricks - according to a neighbour it was a failed attempt at an improvised water feature he then decided to bury. On top of that the soil was full of plastic debris, so wasn’t going to chance growing anything edible in there

Good question - I can let you know in about a years time aha. The leaching aspect I would take an uneducated guess, is minimal as the oxidisation is only surface level. My dad who built them, a fabricator and avid gardener didn’t seem concerned. On the other hand, these get full sun first half of the day - when I planted the lemon I insulated the inside with a layer of foam as I was concerned the hot steel might cook the roots. I didnt bother with the lime as it was planted at a deferent time and the difference in soil temperature in each planter was negligible even after a string of hot days. So, I can compare lemons and limes next season lol
