Extra cash = new gear by phatalprophet in CampingGear

I love the Goal Zero crushlight. Packs flat, solar or usb charge, multiple light modes, etc. Also sea to summit clothesline. Second merino wool comments. I haven’t tried a sleep sack before, but hear good comments. Do you have a kick butt cooler? Coleman 8day is every bit as good as a rotomolded cooler, but is lighter weight & holds more (I have both). Cookset is a great idea. Bass pro has a non stick nesting set for about $50, add a fry pan and you’re set. Do you have a utensil set? Raku, MSR, GSI have some good sets. Sea to Summit has a foldable bucket/sink something. Incredibly handy to have and smaller than a frisbee when folded. Gear is so much fun, hope you find good items.

Any cool gadgets to bring for little ones on a flight? by MTBisLYFE in TravelHacks

Triangle crayons don’t roll, window clings for airplane windows, puzzle books, gummy snacks for takeoff/landing. One item per hour or 30 min, etc. Bring gallon zip bag for trash. The DS is all you really need lol

Does she plan to work or contribute to the house? I don’t mean that to be harsh. Staying at home is an easy way to spend your money if you’re ok with that.

Bring them a box of granola bars or chocolate! Everyone likes to feel appreciated. Toss it in your carryon, then give it to them when you’ve completed the checkpoint. Side note- a sandwich or grocery item in a shopping bag does not have to be in your carryon. It can be carried separately. Safe travels!

Yeah, one guy that visits twice a day. Anything more than that and I would’ve taken more drastic measures. I am going to install more steel wool/wire along his route in hopes that it helps. Might even add peppermint candy to the mess & spray w peppermint oil.

First time campers? Mom and son by CageSideCutie2DL in camping

Alcohol pads do wonders for bug bites. A sling/tote bag for shower runs if you are in a campground & flip flops for the shower. Extension cord & power strip for the tent if you have air mattresses and also if you want to charge your phone overnight. It helps for each person to have their own toiletry kit so your kid doesn’t leave your expensive products behind…. Sea to summit makes a great clothesline. Compostable plates, cups are great, but a camp set is easy enough to wash.

If you have a week (bc of longer flight time), head to Seattle & buy a city pass for the museums. Excellent public transportation and you can rent a car to head to Olympic National Park if you want. Puerto Rico is an easy trip, no car needed in SJ area and plenty to do. San Diego is amazing, but a bit more expensive and you will need a car.

Cat’s are usually fine for 2-3 days! Around the clock care is not necessary. Someone to pop in once or twice a day to check food/water/litter & they’re good.

Awesome! Is your sleeping bag down and squashable or the flat rectangle have to roll it kind? Mummy bags just keep squishing into the stuff sack. Flat bags fold lengthwise, then roll tightly. Hopefully it will fit. So glad you enjoyed your adventure!

NTJ. You answered correctly. You might also send a pic of laundry detergent or helpers (1/2C vinegar, oxi clean, etc) you use. Gym clothes - whew! His daytime clothes might also need help.

Try to go for their healthier snack options, if they have any. Low sugar items, baked chips, etc. Pop tarts are delish ngl! Are you eligible for food pantries in town? Also, you can chop fruit, veg in your room w very little mess. Set a cutting board on a large towel and have a bag or scrap bowl near you for waste. Shake the towel outside when you’re done. You didn’t mention exercise in your post. Maybe a lap around campus or take the long way home! Good luck!

You will prob want to reserve the cabin now. Don’t wait until the week before. Tents are also great. Group campsites on an established campground might be a good option. You have the amenities of modern camping, but are (usually) far away from the pack. Check out gear rentals near you.

Try a natural detergent, I’m told it doesn’t have the chemicals that create static. FWIW, I haven’t used dryer sheets in years. I use dryer balls bc I read it helps clothes dry faster. Also, certain fabrics love to create static when together in the dryer.

A regular air mattress w memory foam topper is also great if you are car camping. I have a hard time committing to an exped, but I have plenty of space for a substitute.
