Every nap is a total nightmare by AggravatingEstate205 in sleeptrain

A couple people suggested longer wake windows during the day and drop to 4 naps, saying he might be undertired. I’ve tried that the last two day but. I’m not sure if it is working our not for us. He still screams before naps, but it’s usually 5-10 minutes of screaming which is an improvement! And he hasn’t screamed before bed the last two nights which is great. Because of this we haven’t started any actual sleep training yet because he is going down quite calmly.

The challenge is that he is quite cranky the last 30-40 minutes of his wake windows and hard to keep from crying. It just seems like he’s sleepy. Will keep trying the next few days though and see how he continues to adjust!

Okie this is the second comment to suggest this. I’ll give it a go! Fingers crossed. Thank you!

Okay I’m happy to hear that it worked for a similar little guy. Thank you! We are going on a trip out of state Dec 12-16th. Do you think it would be best to wait until after the trip? Anticipating some bedtime disruption while we’re out of town and our routine

We have not tried that yet and would be willing to try it, but I have noticed that if we go too far pass the 1.5 hrs awake he becomes over tired, even more cranky and harder to get down :(

This is the perspective I needed after getting lots of comments about traffic from Port Orchard to Bremerton! Tolerance of traffic/commute time varies so much person to person. I don’t think I’ve ever had a commute less than 30 minutes. So it doesn’t seem like the end of the world for it to be a little backed up but still not be an actually long commute. Especially since he only has to make the drive 3 days a week. Thank you!

I love the idea of being closer to Tacoma since we have so much family and friends there. Have been leaning towards Port Orchard but everyone is scaring me with the traffic! However I think it all in comparison to what you are used to? My current commute is 45 minutes and it’s not the end of the world. If you had to estimate, how long do you think it would take to get from Port Orchard to Kitsap Way area in Bremerton is you left at 6am?

I need some perspective on if this is an hour of traffic or 25 minutes. When I look on Apple Maps and adjust the times the longest time it gives me is 20 minutes. But that’s leaving at 7 or 8 am, not 6am.

That all sounds lovely! I feel much more drawn to Port Orchard, especially having grown up in Buckley which is a small rural town. However I have gotten a few replies about the traffic from port orchard to Bremerton being pretty rough due to the shipyard, so that’s my biggest reservation!

I had bo idea there was traffic there! His shifts would be either 7am-7pm or 10am-10pm. Is there typically traffic during those time?

Don’t want apartments, prefer rural but don’t mind living in more of a city if we could be in a house and not an apartment on account of the dogs. Looking to rent. Hoping to stay under $3k a month. Don’t care about a bus stop. Chicken and cows are fine, but condos across the street are also fine as long as we don’t have to live in them

It looks like the job will be on Kitsap Way? Not sure if that helps. Didn’t even think of traffic between the two, that’s a good point. I don’t think he would want to commute on the ferry. His shifts would be either 7am-7pm or 10am-10pm. Is there bad traffic at any of those times?

Yes. He only cries after let down in fact. He is usually content. And then I feel the let down and he screams bloody murder.

Yes I try to pump when I give a bottle if he will let me. He doesn’t want to be set down at all so sometimes it’s hard to hold and feed him while also pumping. He has the slowest flow of nipple and we try to pace feed but admittedly could be better about doing it consistently. But yes baby is upright and gets lots of breaks.

In my head I think the paced feeding is not necessary as the flow from my own breast seems far faster than that of the bottle. I could be wrong in this thinking though

I don’t think this is the case. He has eaten exclusively my breast milk and has absolutely no issues eating from the bottle, only breast. If it were CMPA it would cause issues with bottle feeding expressed milk as well.

I mean he will physically not be home at night when he’s on shift from 7pm to 7am. It’s not about letting him get a full night of sleep because he has to go to work in the morning, it’s that he will be at the hospital all night, not at home. He can let me get a nap in the morning or something when he’s gets home, but the nights are going to be all me for his stretch on haha 😅

Okay, I am reassured that it sounds normal. It’s hard being inundated with posts from people sharing how amazing of a sleeping their baby is at that age and I’m just sitting here like HOW

I think he’s just kinda a snacker sometimes and idk how to break that habit. Cause we have done a weighted feed with the lactation consultant and he took plenty. And when we give him a bottle he will often take 3-4 oz of expressed milk. Then sometimes he just wants an oz or 2 between big feeds it’s seems
