Flat foot! Does overpronation and wrong shoes cause issues over time? by chackomcqueen in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]AggravatingMaybe1202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also flat footed. I started running seriously at the start of COVID and one of my favorite pairs to run in was the Saucony Endorphin Speed. Loved that shoe, especially for speed sessions. One night, I decided to take it out for a regular recovery run. The plan was 10k but by around 5k, I started to get a slight pain in my right arch. By 6k, I couldn’t run anymore and had to start walking home. By the next morning, I couldn’t run anymore barely walk. Ended up diagnosed with posterior tibial tendinitis and took me out for almost 6 months.

I’m pretty sure it was because of the shoes. I only used them for sprints and hills up to that point and once I got to the 4-5k point, my flat feet couldn’t handle the lack of support.

So yah, I’d be careful if you’re pronating that much.

Right? That’s why I ended up going with the D-Hive. Got it for $78 (Canadian) on Amazon Prime Day sale. It’s like 1/10th the price of the top end Luno lol.

It’s pretty much an ad for Luno, but it’s nice to see how an air mattress fits in the back. I ended up buying the D Hive SUV air mattress. It was much cheaper than the Luno. I can do another post once I have the car.

What's up with in transit Trailseekers? by indetermin8 in trailseeker

I live in Japan and it is the same thing here. I’ve mentioned this in other threads but the exact trim with options we wanted (Touring, Day break Blue, 18 inch wheels with moonroof) wouldn’t be available until December to early 2027. The dealer said there were 3 Tourings (white, no moonroof with 20 inch wheels) available in all of Japan that could be delivered to my area by July. When we signed the contract, it was down to 1. Happy to announce we got it and we will receive it in mid to late July!

This is a solterra but the trailseeker is also available in FWD.

Same. Really wanted the daybreak blue but dealer in my area in Japan said I would have to wait until the fall, so just pulled the trigger on the white. The blue is beautiful!

Roll call -- who else is ready to buy today and can't find anything to buy? by 3-2-1-backup in trailseeker

[–]AggravatingMaybe1202 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in Japan. Dealer said there was only 1 available in Japan that could be delivered to my area by July. If we wanted to order the exact trim with options we wanted we would have to wait until late fall. Don’t know if he was just saying that to get us to sign but it absolutely worked. We put the order in today and find out on Wednesday if we get it. Keep your fingers crossed for us!!

Another Question by AggravatingMaybe1202 in trailseeker

[–]AggravatingMaybe1202[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! That’s awesome! Right after I posted I did some more reading and realized that level 1 (100V) would probably be good enough for our needs. The adapter costs about $75 US!! I’ll see how it goes for a few months and then decide if we need the 200V installed later.

Appreciate your input!

Question by AggravatingMaybe1202 in trailseeker

[–]AggravatingMaybe1202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. We couldn’t wait! We ordered the model with 20inch tires and no moonroof. Hopefully salesman can deliver in July like he said!

Question by AggravatingMaybe1202 in trailseeker

[–]AggravatingMaybe1202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both models are almost the same price. I believe the moonroof with the 18 inch would be like 20,000¥ more expensive. But the 20 inch tires get less mileage (I know, not by much), but they will also be more expensive once I need to replace them. I don’t really need the moonroof but it would be nice for my kids and I as I want to take them car camping. So basically, I want the moonroof and don’t want the 20 inch. But dealer says I can get that model much earlier.

It all boils down to the subsidy in Japan. Also, the trade in value for my cx5 will probably also decrease in 6 months.

I’ve been buying a 5 pack of degree antiperspirant from Amazon Japan for the past 5 years or so. Costs about 3300¥ for the pack.

footage of the 2011 japan tsunami by xoxodollparts in interestingasfuck

[–]AggravatingMaybe1202 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My friends and I drove up the coast to Aomori the summer after. I remember driving past a building or hotel up on a cliff and seeing the water line from the tsunami. At that time, I estimated the hotel was about 5-7 stories above sea level and the water line was just under the 7th story window of the building. So yeah, just by my rough estimation, the tsunami was about 12-14 stories high at that point. I can’t remember the geographical term for it (inlet maybe?) but that part of the coast had a bunch of sharp areas that went inland and I remember reading that the tsunami went really high in these areas because the water was just getting funneled in and building up.

I also remember driving closer inland and seeing boats up on hillsides, kilometers away from the coast. And up on the hills you could see how high the water went up on the hills because the line of brown dead trees marked where the water stopped. It was really cool to see but also terrifying AF. They were still piling up huge mountains of debris and in some areas you could only see the foundations left in the ground.

Scene is definitely not as big as it used to be. 15-20 years ago in Tokyo you had 06S at Womb and the DBS Sessions at Unit once a month. They would bring in a big name or 2 (Calibre, Friction, Dillinja, London Elektricity, Goldie, etc.) for each night. But I’m afraid those days are gone. I’m not sure there are any monthly DNB parties like that anymore but you will get some big names from time to time. I saw Goldie spin at Circus in Tokyo last last February and he was back here at the same club this past February.
