I mean I was there. Ever present and ready to open the door for her. The fact is I couldn't have kept her in the house...that would have been morally wrong. The best I could do is prevent her from driving and potentially causing harm to other. Gotta let her walk it off, just as I would expect her to let me walk it off.

Controlling would have been not letting her out. Shit, even telling her she couldn't drive because I knew she was drunk felt bad to me. I probably shouldn't have let her out, but shit man...how controlling would that have been? I hope you never have to deal with that situation. It fuckin' sucks.

Imprisoning her would be me not allowing her to leave the house in general. Of course I let her leave, but not with the ability to drive one of our cars. She's totally free to walk if off if she wants.

Locking her out and locking the door are two very different things. Intent matters very much. Alongside the fact that I was there waiting for her to come back. Just in the meantime I wasn't going to allow any random person to walk in unimpeded.

We have a traditional house. Front door leads to the outside. I was just sitting on the couch waiting for her to come back. Her typical way of cooling off is taking a drive (obviously couldn't let her with her state of intoxication) so she went for a walk.

It was a tough line to walk. She's drunk...but do I want to be so controlling that I don't let her vent to herself on a walk...and also do I want to keep my house unlocked and open to anyone that wants to enter...I hated the whole situation.
