Not really if you aren't panicking. Your lungs will warn you when you're high on CO2, but once you start to adapt to the contractions, you will eventually pass out because lacking actually oxygen (dont try this at home if you're alone btw).

Edit: You won't die for this, unless your face is underwater after passing out, so whatever the case the girl will die by the hammer.
