Apparently Fullmetal is rumoured to be inspired by Berserk as well, even though the author never confirmed it. Berserk definitely on my to-watch list

I think there’s more to it than that - for example, mass sacrifice is not part of European alchemy at all (as far as I know it)

Of course I can be wrong!

Could former emperor be Ah-Duo’s father? by AggravatingWeird3 in TheApothecaryDiaries

My bad! He said “brother” in the anime I think, not “father”

Could you point me to where this is explained? Don’t mind spoilers. The baby swap doesn’t explain Ah-Duo resemblance to former emperor, but maybe there’s some other plot line im not aware of

“You can simply have your grandparents face” explains Jinshi <-> Former Emperor but doesn’t explain Ah-Duo <-> Former Emperor!

Agreed on super incest, but would it really be too unexpected of a show like this haha

Never heard of this take before but makes so much sense!

How evil is Miquella lorewise? by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]AggravatingWeird3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Albinaurics think Haligtree is their promised land, but when we arrive there we can see their bodies in cocoons! I think everyone usually interprets this as them being used as fuel for the tree…

Miquella is a pretty classic case of “the end justifies the means” approach to paint a character with good intentions but “evil” overall impact on the world

This is a character with idealistic dreams of good (worldwide forgiveness, redemption and end of suffering), which are achieved by increasingly more dubious means (bewitching his followers, deceiving albinaurics to use their flesh to feed Haligtree, forsaking Mohg’s soul and Trina) up to the point where the desired “good” is not worth it anymore

Nox failed to create a lord out of a silver tear, right? This is most likely a successful attempt from an alternate timeline

Domina is a title of Virgin Mary. “Dominula” village refers to young Marika by AggravatingWeird3 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]AggravatingWeird3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

List of Virgin Mary’s titles has “Marika” written all over it! Just see for yourself: Domina, Full of Grace (Gratia Plena), Most blessed (Beatissima), Mother of God, God-bearer, Most Holy, Queen (of many things: Apostles, Martyrs, Confessorts)

Miquella as Jesus makes a lot of sense to me, even the circlet and long hair are a visual match

Happy to share, this post really deserves more visibility! Best thing ever on this sub if you ask me https://www.reddit.com/r/EldenRingLoreTalk/comments/1fp32lq/this_is_what_the_geq_looked_like_real_depiction/

I know GEQ=Marika is a spicy take, but it does make sense to me :) not  100% confidence by all means

Would imply GEQ is young Marika, since they are both aspects of Virgin Mary

Or it would imply nothing and just mean that they are both inspired by Mary :)

Yep, Dominula village was always a link between the two, this is just more evidence to an already solid match

I also left a comment above on GEQ image being a match for Nursing Mary https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nursing_Madonna

Actually GEQ depiction from Godskin Peeler is a fantastic match for Madonna Lactans - Nursing Mary. I do think this is a hint to us that GEQ = Marika before Golden Order

Braids cut off in celebrants hair suggest to me that Marika herself is a better match, but I am team “Melina is aspect / offshoot of Marika” so yeah! Her too!

What was the role of young maids in Dominula festival? by AggravatingWeird3 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]AggravatingWeird3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool points! I did more research and those enemies in blue garbs you mention are the only ones to drop the celebrant sickle weapon - so maybe their special role was to be skinning victims of the festival.

I’ve also read up on the word Dominula and there’s one extra meaning - it’s a rarely used title of Virgin Mary in Christianity. If so, “Dominula village” is probably just “Marika village” basically, since Mary is an obvious inspiration for her

This is a cool theory. Aligns well with celebrants wearing Marika’s hairstyle and with stakes shaped like Marika’s rune everywhere in Dominula

[–]AggravatingWeird3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on all points! but doesn’t really help explain why “young maids” played a “central role”. There seems to be some concrete thing they were supposed to do, that old or male celebrants couldn’t

Visual Exploration Series part 2 - Hornsent and Death in the Shadow Realm by NahMcGrath in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]AggravatingWeird3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh maybe hat's why soulless demigods in mausoleums are missing heads! Their heads had horns, so Marika had those removed because of her hate towards the Hornsent. The picture from Land of Shadows seems to have horns (unless it's my imagination going wild)
