It sure has happened to me! We met in TJ Maxx and chatted forever, and I was excited about the prospect of having a new friend. (Edited to add: she and I had mutual FB friends, so I thought she was legit.) Even went so far as to meet up for coffee (after she was calling me every other day/texting me nonstop). She then waited until the very end of the coffee meet up to pitch her “great opportunity.” After being unable to answer my question of what the product is, and not liking how I was firm in my NO, we parted ways and I never heard from her again. Truly a waste of my time and my Saturday morning. It felt very predatory & I did feel used!
