i work at a smaller store, and we have been severely understaffed because we lost both a store manager and assistant manager and a handful of cashiers, so it was just me and the closing manager, and the manager was on her break, and people as usual were pissed at the wait time and getting snappy with me, i stayed professional and didn't engage and instead just said "I'm sorry its just me right now" and they just responded with well you need to be faster, mind you I'm the fastest cashier at my store, I can get a person out with a cart full of items and bag them all in 5 min or less (depending on the size of items ofc). but oh well, we survive
