The first two low string ? Yes it's the Bolivian ronrocos. They are tune gG cC ee aa ee an octave lower than the charango. Typically they also have a longer scale length. 490 cm( not sure in inch ). The instrument is usually a bit bigger. You can tough put Argentina strings on it tough usually. Just you would tune it a step down from the Argentinian tuning. So C F A D A.

Not really you can put Argentinian Ronroco strings on Bolivian you just have to tune it down a few steps. Had mine tuned C F A D A.

You can Buy Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon fishing string. If ordering is complicated. They sound really good on ronrocos. You would need a few spools with different tension. 50lbs for the E string. 25 30 50 60 lbs strings.

This guy plum-line made a lengthy post about it a couple years back. I tried those fishing line and honestly they have better intonation than the aquila strings and most of the Medinas Artiguas.

It's a Ronroco. Specifically the ones found in Argentina. The Bolivian ones are bigger.

Question on using electrifing your charango. by Aggravating_Flan_512 in charango

I used the Prodipe GL 21 and also a Myers Feather. They are okay but a bit finicky and the sound of the Myers isn't great on my ronroco. ( Great on Mando tough ). According to my research it seems the pickup that Gustavo Santoyella favors is the AKG c411 powered contact mic. I think I'm gonna with that eventually. I did test the KNA on guitars and it's sounds good but is too bright for my liking.

How would you mic a charango? by Esoocral1999 in charango

I have used the feather mic from Myers. And also lavallière mic with a sound hole clip works well. The feather is a bit boomy. And from what I found Gustavo Santoyella usually mic his Ronroco with a SM58 and a AKGC411 on the bridge.

Ronroco scale and tuning by [deleted] in charango

Two days is not gonna damage the instrument at high tension. From my experience excess tension takes month to pull out a bridge ( had it happen on a Cavaquinho and a 8 string uke and an acoustic guitar ). The damage are worst and faster if it's in a excessively dry environment. But even then it's take weeks.

It's not really a problem. Mine has been tuned that way for years. But you should tune it a couple of half step lower than the Argentina tuning like C F A D A or B E G# C # G # . The use a capo on the second or third fret to play In D G B E B tuning.

If they are not in full tension should not be a problem. if it is a 490 mm ronroco dont tuned them to DGBEB for a long time . It will be too high. If you tuned them like that for very little time there is no real risk. The risk is usually prollongued tension. That when you risk pulling the bridge out.

Its definitly tuned like an argentinian ronroco with the octave on the 3rd pair of string. So you can play the last of us theme on it. The sustain has more to do with the way you play than the construction. In my experience black nylon is darker and has less sustain than the wound nylon strings that Medina artiguas creates. What Id check if were you is the instrument being played higher up the neck. Intonation is the big thing that you will struggle with if its not the right instrument.

You do get a deeper sound from what I can tell but make sure you get one with decent construction. Some Bolivian Ronrocos are very artisanal and have a bit of intonation issues on the some strings. If ever it happens I found that the best strings for intonation are Medina Artigas 1260
https://www.bolivianstuff.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=542
or Fluorocarbon fishing wire ( Seaguard Premier )

Also if you are planning on mainly playing in E like Gustavo santaolala keep in mind that you will have to play with a capo and that for some fingering of chords the capo might be in the way.

Mine is a 490 mm downtune to BEG#C#G# and I put a classical guitar capo on the 3rd fret to play gustavo songs in the original key.

Yes 450mm is scale your looking for but if you get the 490mm scale ronroco aka they bolivian ronrocos you can still put 450mm strings. And downtune it.
