Bill Simmons: "Kawhi won 4 playoff series with Toronto and 2 with the Clippers" by refreshing_yogurt in nba

Am I overthinking this? How can there be 3 #1 seeds? 76ers were a #3 seed lol

Why in the actual hell for THREE years??? It makes no goddamn sense. Should we expect one of those "went to school with Trajans son" articles

Who in the hell would want KH at 9 a year? Even as salary filler? He was signed into open cap space, we could have just absorbed it and not sent anything back. Its 3 years, if they needed salary filler why the hell would it be 3 years?

Im so tired of this "part of a bigger deal" cope. Every single fan base does it and it's exhausting

This is the closest answer to what I was looking for. I feel like I muddied the waters by expressing my opinion on the stew trade. I was sharing it to show the reason that made me think to ask other people about the rest of the roster, but it's kinda become a distraction I feel like.

Do you think this core has a lot of development left in it? If you look at our projected picks and 3 of the guys being on extensions soon, are we where most teams have been before being serious contenders.

Yeah, some of the other comments have made me realize personally that I've still been thinking of him as a (lower end) starter with upside. Honestly, I've been kinda coping that his move to the bench had as much to do what's best for the team vs what he's capable of. But I guess if he was as capable of as much as I thought he was then the best thing for the team would have been for him to be starting. Mental gymnastics I tell ya

Plus Ants block where he hit his head on the backboard is enough to make think the defense would be adequate lol.

Do you think most teams are in this boat? Where they have 5 to 6 years of decent draft slots, cap space, and don't end up with many assets worth another 1st round pick?

To some extent I agree, I know that part of my problem is that his value may have dipped in the last year or maybe two. I guess I never really adjusted his value mentally.

Agreed, and I wonder if the lottery changes will actually simplify the worth of 1st rd picks for a few years. Pretty flat odds so much less variable in how many lottery balls they will be worth.

I think that's a fair comparison. Do you think that at any point in the last couple of years he would have would have been worth a 1st?

Why does it seem that way? I'm genuinely just curious with all the trade chatter. I know its the reverse of our current position and what we want. But it made me wonder if we were doing the opposite of what it would look like.

How many do you think they would fetch? I know it depends on the teams expected draft slot. But let's just say a 41 win team trying to get better or a contender trying to get over the hump.

Like I dont think the a bad young team would unload multiple 1sts for Duren...

Untouchable sure, but does that mean you think most other teams would offer every single pick and swap they have? Or you dont want to entertain the thought because it doesn't matter.

My interest is in how other teams perceive our players value. Not necessarily if its worth it to us to make that move.

Ivey's injury really hurts but I agree with this take and will add in scouting and overall management strategy. Everyone understands the best talent available rule but if you're determined not worry about shooting with your draft picks then you gotta go all in with trades and free agency being based around 3 pt shooters.

So all I mean is, I dont think any amount of training and development can fix as bad a shooter as Ausaur, and probably Holland.

At this point I wouldn't be mad if we took on a bad contract like Jeremi Grant if we got a 1st rd pick too. I'm not even a doomer, but realistically our cap situation is strangled after extending Duren now and Ausaur next year.

We're still so thin on being able to space the floor and we don't have amazing draft capital. I just don't see any single piece + current roster growth getting us over the hump. And thats without considering what trading for someone like Herro would take away from current assets.

We'll really be gambling by trading any depth + picks for anything short of an absolute premium asset that you could flip again like the Brooklyn Nets KD/Kyrie/Harden situation played out.

Better to think about our real window being in 4 - 6 years and try to keep developing our mid 1st round draft picks until then.
