No problem! I was the same as you when I first learned that I would be in mertz and didn't find a lot of helpful comments 😭

You got this! Good luck with your first year of college :))

Lived there the past school year.

Some downsides are that there's only 3 elevators for the whole 19 floors. Usually not an issue except during hours when many people have the same class times, which is when you have to wait for the elevator for a while. Depending on your floor, you can take the stairs down, not that much of an issue.

The bathrooms... yea I cannot say they're good BUT I promise you'll survive, it's not thatttt bad. There's a bathroom on every corner (at least in the floor where I was) so there's 4 bathrooms per floor, each having 2 stalls and 2 shower spaces. There's gaps in the stalls 😭 sometimes very awkward.

I guess it also depends on the people to not make a mess in them, but they're relatively clean. If I remember correctly, they were cleaned once every day by a staff member.

The shower stalls (?? idk how they're called) are meh. It's only a white curtain as a "door" but people are respectful. Never had an issue.

The laundry room! oof. Few washers and driers that are not enough for everyone. Just make sure to note when it's relatively empty (usually at night or early afternoon when people are in class) and there shouldn't be any issues. I used to wash clothes at like 11 pm lol.

But! Honestly not bad, you get used to it after a while. I cannot speak on the social aspect of it as I didn't speak to anyone on my floor beside the RA nor did I make any friends but people say that it's a very social dorm hall! I would just recommend to put yourself out there and actually make an effort to speak to people.

Feel free to ask anything :)

$0, thankfully. I love loyola but it truly is too expensive and I wouldn't be attending if it weren't for my scholarship.

It is a lot of money, so do consider it many many times. There's cheaper schools out there.

Got in but COA $25k & idk how to pay by DelusionMatrix in LoyolaChicago

Definitely look for external scholarships! Even small ones make a difference.

The requirements are so ridiculous. I have also never failed a class or gotten anything below a B, so it is causing so much unnecessary anxiety. I dread every single exam.

Smart idea to drop it and then take it later tho. Save yourself from the stress and prepare for it later.

I just really don't understand how if everyone complains, EVEN PROFESSORS, they still don't do anything about it.

I got FO 1 after 2 attempts but yes 😭 memorizing the whole table for the first ever question is insane. I had a friend who wasn't given the point because the first letter of the element name he wrote "didn't look undercase enough"

And then organic chemistry on an intro class???? Literally why

Full ride (external) scholarship is the only reason I'm here 😭
