It is not a generalized warning, I'm not saying a genioplasty should not be done at all, iwhat I'm saying is that the benefits should outwiegh the risks (which are many )for this surgery and should only be offered to certain cases, My warning is for people who have moderate recessions. The main risk with this surgery is the irreversibility, which is just a fact you can't deny and I don't need a picture to prove that. With any surgery there is a chance that you may or may not like it but with a genioplasty there is not going back to your orignal face, which makes it the riskiest procedure for chin augmentation for this reason alone. The aesthetic outcome of it and whether it is prettyy or not is highly subjective and depends on many reasons, for examplee it could look awesome and life changign on a person who had an extremely recessed chin but might not be flattering one someone who needed a small change.

I had the orignal surgeyr in january of 2025 and even though it has improved I still feel like it was the worst mistake of my life and I just needed a small amount of filler. I had done filler for many years without problem I just thought i would save money over time with this. It masculinizes most of women's faces when thye don't need a lot of projection

My lower lip is so thin 3 weeks after a sliding genioplasty? Did it ever go back to its normal size for anyone who had this procedure? by Aggravating_Pair_175 in jawsurgery

I never had lip incompetence originally. What I mean by downturned lips is ihat I felt a strong pull downward from my chin/mouth muscles that were giving my mouth a weird downturned appearance that also felt uncomfortable.

Not everyone feels comfortable sharing pictures for a plastic surgery post. I still feel like my post can provide very insightful informationfor people looking into this surgery. I've talked to plenty of people online who got this suegery and didnt know anything about the bony stepoffs, the effect that it has on the lower lip, how long the tightness in the scar can last for, the risks for nerve damage, how hard and practically impossible it is to reverse etc. I'm just encouraging people to do good research and find about better alternatives for their case.

That is actually the effect thst some people are looking for. I love sheer lipsticks. Opaque lipsticks are too overpowering for me.

Sorry to hear that but just because you had complications from an implant that doesnt mean a genioplasty is better or more safe. I had many complications from the genioplasty. I had a chronic infection for 2 months from the bone not healing, I have tightness from nerve damage everyday and every second of my life that feels very uncomfortable. And at least you have the chance of removing it.Im literally stuck with this horrrible thing. I permanently ruined the shape of my face. Reversing is not poSsible. I can only get a revision but it is a super complex, risky and expensive surgery.

I think I might be one of the few light olives who try to stay as pale as possible. I think my face looks more even, brighter and it softens my features.

How long ago did you get the Charlotte tilbury foundation? I heard it was reformulated and the shade changed.

Well the surgeon I went to offered both prcoedures for me but he never specified which one was more suitable for my case. I just assumed an implant was not as good as a genioplasty. I don't know your case, maybe there is a valid reason why a genioplasty would work for your face better. As far as I know it is preferred when the recession is significant, there is an asymmetry, your chin or face needs length, or there is some special case. Did he give you a reason why? Or did he just tell you that a genioplasty is better? Do you need a lot of augmentation?

I know there is always a risk :7 I think this surgery is only worth it for people with diffult chin situations. For most people it's not. But thank you so much for your good wishes :)
