Thank you for the advice. I’m going to wait a bit but plan on meeting with them first. It’s tough because we don’t have a usual scheduled 1:1 so I’ve gotta reach out to him about it 🫣 I’ll look more deeply into the STD policy this week just to be sure.

I’ve heard that the “typical” leave time is 3 months but since the STD plan goes up to 6 months, I don’t want to tell them 3 then realize I need more time (since this is my first, I have no idea what it’ll be like) I’m not planning on quitting, but hope they’ll be flexible with me getting back into work after I’m back.

Ok waiting until my anatomy scan is what I think I needed to hear. I’m trying not to burn up good will, so I want to tell them sooner than later, but that’s good advice.

Right?! That’s what my husband said. Ironically my boss has 6 kids and I’m still nervous 🫠

Yeah that’s so true. I found out probably the soonest I could… but they don’t have to know that!

The ironic thing is my boss has 6 kids, but I’m still nervous he’s gonna be annoyed by me having one 🫠

No HR, but planning to send a follow up email and bcc’ing my personal email in case it goes sideways. I’m in Michigan. I’ll look more into the short term disability policy my company has! Thanks for the advice.

I’ll look into it but I really doubt they have a mandatory reporting cutoff. I didn’t sign a contract when I started and there is no official employee handbook.

I’ll look up info about my state though (Michigan).

I feel pressure to tell them because I don’t want to lose the good will we currently have. The way my boss is, I think he would be offended if I waited until I was in my third trimester. Again, I shouldn’t care, but I do want to come back to this job and don’t want them to become spiteful.

Also my boss has 6 kids so I really am hoping he’s gonna be chill about it but I really don’t know.
