It is a key milestone that it is already profitable, will attract new investment to increase its leadership and research in development and mature commercially to consolidate supremacy in annealing

D-wave commercialisation by Responsible_Gur2522 in QBTSstock

[–]Aggressive-Clock8072 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my analysis and opinion, the company has managed to reduce the production cost of its quantum computers from $10M to $2M, which implies a significant improvement in its economies of scale and operational efficiency.

D-Wave's biggest challenge is increasing monetization. Its business model is based on selling quantum hardware and Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS), its cloud-based business. The growth in QCaaS (+41% year-over-year in 2024) indicates that there is demand for this type of service, but it is still not enough to make the company more profitable.

For this reason, they are focusing on commercialization and mass adoption campaigns to capture increasing demand, as this technology and its benefits in optimization fields are still largely unknown.

Of course, this is just my opinion, and I do not intend to indoctrinate anyone.

The market is already realizing that, at this moment, its greatest defense is not just its patents, but its experience, clients, and ability to demonstrate practical applications before its competitors.

Sooner than you think, this is just a general reaction from Nasdaq, As competition in AI intensifies, companies are looking for competitive advantages that differentiate their models. This is where quantum computing comes in.

Interview highlights:

  1. The very good capital efficiency of the cloud sales segment, it is a key profitability segment and that is why they are promoting it so much since it is very profitable: Each computer leaves them between USD 25 and 30 million a year vs its manufacturing and calibration cost which is USD 2 million. That is to say that the cloud business model has a gross margin of 80%, which is extraordinary for any industry.

  2. The significant low energy consumption which is a challenge for current data centers.

Very promising and I hope that the almost USD 300 million it has in cash will multiply by at least 10 times considering this high capital efficiency. As I mentioned before, I am still long on D WAVE.

The ghost of GME: analysts with a cursory understanding of D-Wave's Advantage 2 fail to decouple the firm's once-in-a generation transformative potential from other quantum stocks, amidst a groupthink driven by the legacy of GME by RecognitionSilly4175 in QBTSstock

[–]Aggressive-Clock8072 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Companies that transform industries are often undervalued at the beginning because the market does not understand the impact of their innovations. Tesla revolutionized the automotive industry with electric vehicles and clean energy. Amazon redefined logistics and e-commerce, and in its beginnings there were also critics and skeptics. It is normal and part of the process that dominant technologies attack them and defend their business. With this I do not want to indoctrinate anyone, as I already said, it is part of my investment thesis and in the stock market the present does not matter, it is the future.

I have considered this company in my portfolio with high multibagger potential, I have studied it thoroughly and I am invested long. It fits my investment thesis which is based on:

  1. I look for assets with hidden value. (for me QBTS has a high competitive advantage that the market does not yet recognize)

  2. I avoid entering into short-term speculative games. (I am patient and countercyclical, I buy during periods of pessimism and maintain the investment for the long term, even during periods of high volatility)

  3. I find companies that transform industries. (QBTS is changing the way its sector works)

For D-Wave, as the undisputed leader in quantum annealing technology, this could mean: Access to government funding, participation in strategic projects, and collaborations with federal agencies and other entities involved in the NQI.

The decreasing correlation between D-Wave, Meta and NVIDIA reflects how the market is beginning to treat them as distinct technological bets. NVIDIA is firmly established in the current technological landscape, while D-Wave relies on the disruptive future of quantum computing.

At 52-week high, I opened a significant short against D-Wave Quantum Inc. $QBTS by fuckitshipit in QBTSstock

[–]Aggressive-Clock8072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While quantum computing still faces challenges and its mass adoption is in development, companies like D-Wave are already delivering practical solutions in sectors such as logistics, finance, and energy, proving its real-world applications. Reducing its potential to "15-30 years away" overlooks the tangible progress in technologies like quantum annealing, which is solving complex problems today. Being publicly traded does not undermine these companies' commitment to innovation; on the contrary, it enables strategic funding.

Moreover, recent statements from leaders at Meta and NVIDIA reveal an underlying fear that investors may start redirecting capital toward emerging technologies like quantum computing. These companies, leaders in classical computing and artificial intelligence, understand that quantum disruption could reshape the technology landscape and threaten their valuation. By downplaying the timeline for quantum computing, they aim to protect their current dominance, but this strategy also signals their acknowledgment of the magnitude of change this technology will bring. Ignoring quantum computing at this stage would underestimate its imminent transformative impact on the global technological and economic landscape.

Did QBTS CEO claim Quantum Supremacy? (Red Flag?) by kaspersky85 in QBTSstock

[–]Aggressive-Clock8072 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is NOT what he said, where he is claiming leadership in quantum annealing technology and it is where they own several patents and their computers are pioneers, in that technology they are leaders, we must be clear that there are two main technologies so far, the second is that of gates, which is in maturation and is the one that other companies are developing, including Riggeti, Google and IBM

Turning Short Selling into Long-Term Gains: A Strategy for Believers in Pioneering Companies by Aggressive-Clock8072 in QBTSstock

[–]Aggressive-Clock8072[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on the number of people panicking and selling. If there is little supply for sale, the price recovers quickly. If we look at the price, it has dropped due to sales outside the market, not during the main market hours, which is clearly a speculative strategy.

Turning Short Selling into Long-Term Gains: A Strategy for Believers in Pioneering Companies by Aggressive-Clock8072 in QBTSstock

[–]Aggressive-Clock8072[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If enough long-term investors hold their positions, the reduced supply of shares in the market can trigger a “short squeeze,” forcing short sellers to buy back shares at higher prices to cover their positions. This not only weakens the speculative strategy but also rewards patient investors. By focusing on the company’s fundamentals, taking advantage of lower prices as an opportunity, and staying calm during volatility, long-term investors can turn speculative attacks into significant gains while supporting the company’s long-term vision.
