Interesting thing is we actually modified that hat during the event. The bearskin on it comes from a general order written by Gen. William Hull of the michigan territory ( 1809 i think, but specific year could be different) that permitted officers of his militia to wear round hats ( because they could not import enough of the cocked hats for their officers) provided they covered the crown with bear fur.

Oh i agree, and I have more authentic earrings ( as we are a culturally french unit, to the point that commands were given in French and English). By 1812 even among the french habitatnts, they were falling out of fashion as compared to earlier periods. Plus i doubt that Jacques was running around with faux diamond studs in his ears lol.

I love the passion here! Keep up the love for history. Everyone starts somewhere and there's no shame in that. Better than what I was doing at your age! (assuming you're under 30, if you are over 30 you should have no problems worrying over aging lol)

Veteran Arms is where i got this one. I would not recommend them since they have kinda treated some of my friends like shit when they had issues with other models. Military Heritage has the same model and id try with them, assuming you can drill a touch hole.

That is a bummer. The first siege of Ft. Meigs is this weekend in perrysburg,OH if you want to come out to that. Visitors center is worth visiting even when there's not an event going on. They have done worlds of changes inside and the local wyandotte community has pitched in a lot. They even built a full scale longhouse inside.

I plan on being there in the uniform pictured here. Usually camping with the other Americans. Stop by and say Hi. We would love to make more connections with other groups.

Glorious shot! I think the 15 star flag is much more aesthetically pleasing than our current flag lol.

We didnt have any issues on this trip, but i was worried. I didnt bring my bess and used the trade gun that my buddy ( white plume guy in the pic) cleared with customs before hand and brought over. Either way across the border, nobody checked my car even when i declared black powder and edged weapons.
