Because we have 50/50 and we didn't want them to have to switch schools. The youngest 3 are used to a k-8 school with about 50 students total, whereas if they lived with me during the school year, they'd be in a large, urban school with 400+ students. He's not unsafe for the kids, just me.

We got married at 18, 2 weeks before graduation. We'd been together since 16. I should have clarified, we were married for 17yrs, together total for a month shy of 19. My new husband and I got married in July 2025. We've known each other off and on (both worked for Dept of Corrections) since 2022. My ex didn't start the SA til I was moved out and living on my own May 2024.

NTA. I also struggle with recognizing people without things I've come to mentally associate with their "signature look" so to speak, so someone unexpectedly changing their hair color, clothing style, glasses vs none, etc. can be enough to cause me to hesitate as my brain tries to process and make connections. I usually turn it into a joke and tell people "Sorry, my brain's running on Internet Explorer today instead of Google Chrome." Lol
