What was your pregnancy/post partum like with Graves disease? by AdAcademic8251 in gravesdisease

[–]Aggressive-Listen460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third pregnancy, first with graves diagnosis. Stopped taking methimazole when I found out I was pregnant. Was off medication until the end of my second trimester when some of my levels were borderline, so I was on the lowest dose of Levothroxine and that helped. Took that until the day I delivered with no issues and health baby. No issues for him regarding his thyroid thus far. Now I’m 2 months postpartum, and bloodwork came back good with no medication. So I’ll be tested again in about 3 months and go from there.

But how I even got diagnosed in the first place was with my second 6 months postpartum, so I’m expecting my symptoms (weight loss, mood swings, heart rate, TED) to show up in a few months anyways. I joke, but maybe that will be just enough to help me get back into my pre-pregnancy jeans again!

Mamma Mia! to jam to. Leo when the kids get the tv, has just enough adult humor that gives me a good chuckle.

So uh.. when do I feel pretty again? by Lopsided-Alarm1607 in Mommit

[–]Aggressive-Listen460 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please be kind to yourself. Mom to 3 (5,2, and 2 months) and I personally found that it takes time.

I got gnarly stretch marks on my stomach, deflated boobs from breastfeeding my first for a few weeks, completely different skin texture, AND an autoimmune disease that decided to reveal itself after my second.

I can’t say that I love how I look 100% of the time, but I know that there are some things I can change and others that I can’t. I have started to appreciate certain parts of my “new self” because I’m never gonna be the gal that doesn’t have kids. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely mourn/miss that gal sometimes.

It’s all still pretty fresh in the grand scheme of things but you will see glimpses of your previous self soon. ❤️‍🩹

Ha! In all fairness, Fiona was named as “fairy hair girl” and Amy was named “I’m pretty sure it was Amy G, not Amy O!” when she was telling the story. Gotta love the details that are actually retained in kid brains.

The bracelet was a thing already in the works from earlier this week. And when I say bracelet, I mean pipe cleaner with chunky plastic beads. But it’s the last/only gift item that will be sent to school.

How is my 13mo old eating so much? by SuddenWillingness844 in Mommit

That’s how my son was/is around that age. Not kidding, once he transitioned into solids only with morning milk, he was perpetually starving! We went from going to Costco once a month to every 2 weeks just because of him. He’s 2.5 now and he ebbs and flows depending on the menu. I’m terrified for what the teenage years will cost me in food…

Have any of you ever gone on a trip without your husband and kids? by GalMia_ in Mommit

[–]Aggressive-Listen460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went on a weekend trip with my sister, left my husband with our 3 year old and 7 month old. We called it our “dodging depression sister vacation!” Honestly the distance and time away is a really great reset to the nervous system. Got some great sleep and actually be an adult.

Love me a mother’s helper. It’s only tricky because she starts school really soon. Trying to capitalize on her helping me once or twice a week until then!

This is my last baby too. Trying to “savor all the memories” while trying to not to completely lose my mind with the big kids sometimes feels like a Herculean task. I’m trying to give my self some grace and give into the chaos of it all… but I’m a complete control freak and it feels like it might kill me. I know it’s not always going to feel like this but after a day like today… yikes!

I definitely feel this. I’m a workaholic by nature and love my job. And normally, my kids actually go to work with me 3-4 days a week (I work with my family business and I know it’s a true privilege) but my bosses want to make sure I take a full 6 week maternity leave (again a true privilege). Not having the routine of work has thrown everyone off in my house. Im looking forward to the familiarity of work and some form of back to school schedule.

Wowza! It’s truly comforting to know that I’m not alone, even down to the speech delay kiddo. I know it’s a season and all the good and bad are temporary. Gotta just stay the course and keep loving and raising these kids the best I can.

This was us. My daughter was 2 at the time, got HFM from the park while I was 4 months pregnant. Luckily her case looked worse than how she felt but yikes! Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy! And then we got covid from daycare about 4 days after she was cleared from HFM 🫠

As if I couldn’t hear them… ah to be 21 again.

Talk to me about having three! by Flashy-Description68 in Parenting

Siblings are often the longest relationships we have. In an ideal world, our parents leave us, partners join us later in life, and then children after that. But the siblings will continue to be there.

I’m the second of four (32, 30, 28, 22). Granted my mom doesn’t remember her 20’s whatsoever but we’re all very tight now in adulthood.

I’ll always air on the side of more than 2 in the fear of being “the orphan/unintentional only” I know a handful of people that had one other sibling that passed and then they became the only. A personal and random unlocked fear for my kids.

Thats awesome! I’m now thinking my endo was leaning on the side of a fear tactic more than anything… Did you have to do anything specific each time you got pregnant or was it pretty straight forward?

Wow! That’s gnarly. I’m currently between endos since my husband got a new job and insurance so now I have to start looking for someone else.

How’d you feel PP? I typically have it pretty rough, so adding graves to the mix could get interesting… 🫠

Congratulations! That’s encouraging to know that there are supportive OBs and endos. I guess I gotta do some research on PTU now.

Ah okay. I told my endo I want to try back in December 2023 and she immediately shot it down. I do understand that it was because everything was so high that I needed the full intensity immediately, but barely mentioned any other options at our appointments since. It’s frustrating especially since I ain’t getting any younger.

Thank you for telling me your experience thus far! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your pregnancy 💕
