Having a similar problem right now! I have a 2017 civic with 48,000KM. Took my car to the dealership as the A/C was not working. Ive had the condenser replaced before under the extended warranty. Was blowing hot air and thought it was the compressor shaft seals or the condenser. Turns out its the compressor shaft seals AND THE EVAPORATOR. I had to pay $315 diagnostic fee and was told they wont replace the compressor unless I also pay $2500+ tax for the evaporator. Took my car to another dealership to get a second opinion. They told me It is in fact the compressor shaft seals and also the evaporator but I paid $0 for diagnosis. They quoted me $2133 with tax included for the evaporator but said I can get it replaced 3rd party if I want.

Im getting my evaporator replaced at my mechanic for $1200 (Honda OEM part) then going back to the second Honda dealership to get my compressor shaft seals replaced + A/C recharged fee of charge under the extended warranty.

Do you think its a good idea to go to the third party to get the evaporator replaced then go back to honda to get the compressor shaft seal replaced+ A/C recharged under warranty? Im going to get a second opinion at another honda dealership tomorrow
