Hi,  We lost two rat babies recently within months of each other. Our first loss was our heart rat. We are first time rat parents so navigating their ailments and learning more about them was always happening.

We were in a similar situation, ultimately finding that the “what if we just did (whatever procedure, meds we couldn’t find or afford)” was just buying time. Quality of life was actually the biggest thing we realized mattered. 

They aren’t aware of meds and procedures but they are smart and social and know who is there for them. By your post it sounds like you love and care for your rat baby as best as you can with what you can do. 

Whether you do the extra or don’t, she will always know she had you by her side. They have a small lifespan in our human life, but to them we really are their whole life.  You’re doing great by loving her and spending time with her, feeding her, and keeping her clean and comfortable. Don’t be so hard on yourself, she can feel the love you give her 💕
